Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life (and dog dad) 🥰. I'm marrying dog dad this year so this is our last Valentine's before we are husband and wife 🥹💛. Flower Puppy needs to practise walking down the aisle, sprinkling flowers, and not jumping up on dog mums in white dresses 🤣

What's the best thing about having a dog?

For me, it's a toss up between waking up to Evie spooning me every morning, and getting out for an hour of calmness in the countryside on most days 🍂.

My family 🥰💛 One of my resolutions this year is to take Evie on more adventures, and I've been absolutely loving exploring the Hertfordshire countryside, especially with the low winter sun and all this frost meaning minimal muddy paws (though she still tries to splash around in frozen puddles.

I always have a pocket full of treats for our walks to reinforce Evie's good choices. We're working on recall and neutrality and Evie is absolutely killing it 💛.

This is your ✨ sign ✨ to book a minibreak with your dog 🥰. In 2023, Evie and I have fallen in love with dog-friendly travel. Here's what we think makes a really great dog-friendly hotel:

⭐️ a warm welcome
⭐️ direct outdoor access (ideally to an enclosed area)
⭐️ dog friendly dining
⭐️ hotel's dog walk recommendations
⭐️ rooms in quiet spots

Some hotels provide basic amenities like dog treats and water bowls, and other hotels even provide dog beds, toys, and even their meals! However, we always take along everything Evie needs, and her settle mat helps her to settle and sleep in any environment.

And here are some questions we always ask before booking a dog-friendly hotel:

💭 Can my dog join me for breakfast/dinner?
💭 Where can my dog relieve themself?
💭 How quiet is our room/does our room have its own entrance, rather than a room along a corridor?
💭 Are there any additional charges?

Happy gotcha day, Evie! 1 year since she made us a family of 3 💕. The last 12 months have been filled with so many muddy paws, puppy snuggles, and big Evie feelings, and I've loved (almost) every minute of it 🤣💛.
