First social media HELLO in a whiiiiile!

We've been away from social media over summer but please don't think that means we've disappeared, far from it!

Summer tends to be quieter in the publishing world... funnily enough people tend to have other things to think about like beaches, icecream, BBQ's and simply surviving with the kids for 6 weeks...

But summer is also for writing!!

And now, when the writing is complete, it's September and the run up to Christmas is where sh*t always gets crazy.

We have two brilliant new non-fiction books waiting in the wings to be launched and ready to be bought as gifts for the Big Day - I'll be sharing more info about them in the weeks to come!

You'll probably find we'll be reasonably quiet on social media over the next few months... because quite frankly marketing on here is constant AF and I'd rather dedicate that time to my clients 🥰 but we'll make sure to pop in every now and again with news, updates and tips✌

On the day of Katie's eBook pre-order goes live (yay!!), I wanted to celebrate her PR successes whilst she has been working with us to market her book.

To start, I'd like to emphasise that not all PR ends up to be successful. Contacts, timings and a good product all help but coverage is never guaranteed when you do a PR drive as part of any kind of marketing, including book marketing.

However, something really crucial when it comes to book marketing is working with a PR consultant who knows your book's niche and works in the industry where your ideal readers are hanging out! Rosie at Studio Bloom PR really knows her stuff and some of the coverage Katie has got since working with us has been in:

Let me introduce you to: FRONT MATTER.

That stuff at the front of a book that isn't part of the main content. (And the sister of the stuff at the back of the book: Back Matter).

Additional book sections that you might find as part of the front matter in a non-fiction book:

📚 copyright page
📚 dedication
📚 foreword
📚 introduction
📚 author's note
📚 glossary (although more often this is found in back matter)

That's a lot of stuff to potentially include in your book before your reader even gets onto the contents page!!

Remember, you should only include any of the above if you want to and if you feel it adds value to your non-fiction book. Choose wisely.
