Caster Semenya has won an appeal against the international governing body for athletics over testosterone levels.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) said she had been discriminated against because of a requirement that she artificially reduce her naturally high testosterone levels in order to compete in women's races.

Semenya refused to medically reduce her hormone levels, which led to her being barred from competing at this distance since 2019.

Zambian DPP wants Dalitso Lungu’s properties worth millions of Kwacha forfeited!

The Director of Public Prosecutions-DPP has made an application before the Lusaka High Court for the forfeiture of properties worth millions of Kwacha, belonging to Dalitso Lungu, the son of former President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu.

In an affidavit sworn before court by Pardon Liuma, an investigative officer, revealed that several vehicles belonging to Dalitso Lungu were abandoned at Ndozo Lodge after the 2021 General Elections.

Mr. Liuma says a total of 48 vehicles were abandoned in different parts of the country valued at over K23 million belonging to Saliod Traders Limited, a company in which Dalitso Lungu is a Director.

Mr. Liuma has also disclosed that Mr. Lungu is facing allegations of tax evasion and having failed to pay tax for three years.

He says properties are therefore liable for forfeiture because they are suspected to be proceeds of crimes.

Toxic gas leak in South Africa has killed 16 people, including 3 children.

The 16 people, including three children, were killed by a leak of a toxic nitrate gas being used by illegal miners to process gold in a settlement of closely packed metal shacks, South African police and local officials said late Wednesday.

Emergency services initially announced that as many as 24 people might be dead in the Angelo settlement in Boksburg, a city on the eastern outskirts of Johannesburg. But police and Gauteng Province Premier Panyaza Lesufi later said the number of deaths had been confirmed as 16 after a recount of the bodies.

KING Mswati iii OFFICIALLY OPENED ZAMBIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR SAYS: African Free Trade Area(AfCFTA) requires innovation, promotes competitiveness.

King Mswati said the opening of free trade opportunities through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has challenged the business sector to become highly innovative, competitive, and to be interconnected through trade, Government online platforms have reported.
The King was speaking on Sunday when officially opening the 2023 Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Ndola, Zambia, he then invited Zambian businesses to attend the Eswatini International Trade Fair to be held in September.
“In our view, liberalisation of trade in services, which also includes the movement of business persons, will be a positive step to allow our private sector, especially SMMEs, to travel on the African continent without any stringent and sometimes prohibitive visa entry requirements and customs duties,” said the King.
