I never feared the enemies
who made it clear where they stood,
the ones who never liked me,
who never pretended they would.
It was the ones I called friends,
the ones I trusted inside,
who smiled across the table
while sharpening knives out of sight.
They knew where I was weakest,
because I showed them every scar.
They knew the roads I’d travelled,
and exactly where the dark parts are.
I gave them loyalty freely,
never questioned what they’d do.
Funny how the deepest betrayal
comes from those closest to you.
An enemy throws stones from a distance,
a friend knows where to aim.
An enemy might try to hurt you,
a false friend knows your pain.
But betrayal teaches lessons
that loyalty never could.
It shows you who was genuine,
and who was only good
when you were useful, quiet,
or something they could use.
So I don’t hate the ones who changed,
or mourn the ones I lose.
Some people enter as blessings,
some arrive disguised as friends,
and sometimes what feels like heartbreak
is simply where pretending ends.
Now my circle may be smaller,
but every soul is real.
I’d rather stand with honest enemies
than friends who make me kneel.
Because enemies never broke me.
At least they showed their face.
It was the ones I called my people
who taught me trust is earned,
not given away….
I see you 💔
