Metaphorically Speaking with Delia Dolor is a weekly radio show and podcast all about the origins and present uses of metaphors! It's fun and educational.

Aired on the UK's award-wining Colourful, Mondays @ 9am. Available on all major podcast platforms. Each week a guest discusses how their chosen metaphor has affected their life. The show has featured, "What goes around comes around", "Children should be seen and not heard," "We likkle but we talawah," "Reggae is a verb," "It's not the journey, it's the destination," and many more. Delia encourages

listeners to tell her the metaphor they'd like to know about and her team of researchers delve into the archives and come up with information that surprises everyone! Every team member says that every show provides a topic of conversation when socialising - such is the level of engagement the research uncovers and the interest in the stories guests bring with them. Climbing the Greasy Pole!

Delia Dolor's guest, Mr Cornelius Rene, was born in the town of Soufriere, Saint Lucia. He selected the metaphor, "Climbing the Greasy Pole", as it resonates with his journey from Saint Lucia, to the UK. He is based at the world-leading Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, England. Mr Rene, amongst many other accolades, is the UK's first Black Consultant Oculoplastic Surgeon.

The radio show airs on Colourful in the UK on Saturday, 11 January 2025 at 9 a.m. GMT (colourful.com), and during the Nobel Laureate Festival from Monday, 13 January at 9 a.m. EST on all major streaming platforms.
