Last month, King’s Business Review had the opportunity to sit down with two of the world’s leading space figures, Director Aarti Holla-Maini and Rosanna Hoffman, Head of the Global Space Law Project, from the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), to discuss the commercial space sector, international space law, and the regulatory framework that makes the modern space sector not only possible but successful.

Space will undoubtedly play a significant role in the next chapter of human history. While the private sector has undeniably sparked this new space age, it has not done so without contributions from the public sector.

For many of us, university is the beginning of a new stage in our lives and a place to explore our ambitions and goals. For Tea Abrasheva, the President of King’s Business Club (KBC) this academic year, her time at her university, King’s College London, has been a journey she set off on before she ever set foot on Campus.

From her time at KBC or in her time interning in some of the world’s largest and most powerful giants, Tea’s journey is a testament to what can be achieved as a student at university.

Guinness book of world records labelled Monday as the worst day of the week in 2022. While this would normally dissuade some and ruin the rest of their week, Ben Kittoe seized this as an opportunity to start a new show called, you guessed it, The Worst Day of The Week Show.

In this feature piece, Max Bromfield and I sat with Ben and listened to him talk about the radio show, explaining the reasons and the origins of it.

Manchester United are widely regarded as the biggest English club, boasting the largest global fanbase. More recently, Manchester United have been in the spotlight not just for their performances but also for changes in management and ownership.

United’s new stadium plans, announced on Tuesday the 11th of March would see Manchester United replace their current 115-year-old stadium. Nevertheless, questions have been raised over the financing of the stadium, and whether the new direction of the club is something fans are pleased about.

“Access to our market is a privilege, not a right.” - Trump doubles down on protectionist policies, imposing 25% tariffs on steel and 10% on aluminum imports. Canada, the UK, and the EU have hit back, with Justin Trudeau calling it an “unjustified attack on North American trade.”

With counter-tariffs on billions of dollars worth of U.S. goods and rising concerns over inflation, critics warn of economic isolation. Harvard economist Kenneth Rogoff says, “This is déjà vu… the last trade war led to job losses in U.S. agriculture and manufacturing. This could be worse.”

Is America heading for economic strength or another costly trade battle?

Politics has long been a male-dominated field.

According to UN projections, at the current global rate of progression, gender equality in the highest positions of power will not be met for another 130 years. Despite this, there is no shortage of female role models in the media to fill the gaps left by society. Few fictional role models are as capable, formidable, and well-liked as Chrisjen Avasarala from Amazon’s sci-fi series The Expanse (2015-2022) and Elizabeth McCord of CBS’ Madam Secretary (2014-2019). However, the challenges real-world women face in leadership positions are not at all mitigated by few fair representations in the media.

Many countries, even Western democracies, and supposed beacons of liberty, such as the United States, have successively failed to elect a woman to a position of power based on her gender, even if not explicitly stated. The existence of fictional narratives, freed from the constraints of real-world politics, allows showrunners and audiences to see these challenges and explore the dynamics of women in leadership more easily.

From codes to bombs, The Imitation Game (2014) and Oppenheimer (2023) respectively brought the colourful yet tragic lives of two brilliant men to life. The Imitation Game follows the contributions of British mathematician Alan Turing, otherwise regarded as the father of theoretical computer, who decrypted the German Enigma code during World War II at Bletchley Park. Oppenheimer displays the legacy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, American theoretical physicist who directed the Manhattan Project during World War II,
often regarded as the father of the atomic bomb.

The two films bagged a number of accolades including the esteemed Academy Awards and BAFTA Awards, both widely regarded as masterpieces in their own rights. This article will attempt to explore and compare these two films, unravelling the intersection of past and present.

The minimum wage was first implemented under Tony Blair in 1999 and has increased every year since. In 2004, the wage was extended to include those under 18, followed by the introduction of the National Living Wage in 2016 for workers aged 25 and over. In 2021, the eligibility for the National Living Wage was lowered to include those aged 23 and over.

When discussing the subject, entrepreneurs, who are opposed to increases from a business perspective are often shocked when faced with the reality of the cost. The issues surrounding age brackets, yearly salaries and whether it is enough to live on, create challenges for those opposed to increases.

So what are the changes coming into force?
