We’re with the band…
We headed to , the most Nominated Play in history (which won 5 Tonys last year) and were treated to a rare tour afterwards.
The extraordinary rock band odyssey has come to the after a hit run, inviting the audience into the recording studio to watch a wonderfully rich cast of characters battle , gender and power struggles, romantic breakdowns and claustrophobic friendships over a year in the studio, trying to create one of the world’s greatest ever .
There are strong parallels between the real-life story of ’s journey to create Rumours, but with stunning songs choreographed by ’s Will Butler.
These are actually recorded in real time on the stage’s fully functioning recording studio and played back while they argue and tinker over them.
The three-hour production masterfully draws you into an absorbing exploration of the creative process, experiencing the slow, measured pacing of flawed perfectionists trying to create magic, and the electrifying moments when they all come together and succeed.
Afterwards, we were treated to a tour of the backstage, gorgeous and , with some fascinating insights.
🎸The stage mixing desk was the same one used by Gladys Knight & The Pips to record Midnight Train to Georgia.
🎸And the enormous sack of co***ne hoovered up throughout the show is filled with B12 powder, so the cast can safely gum it for scenes.
