I reminded everyone that we do not need to fight, insult, or attack anyone. When others resort to abuse or name-calling, we must rise above it. Instead, ask them one simple question: Are Nigerians better off today than they were before?

Challenge them with facts – on food inflation, the economy, the rising cost of living, and the deepening poverty affecting millions. Let our debates remain focused on the issues that matter. Articulate our position clearly and confidently. Explain why our new political home, the ADC, represents a credible and necessary alternative for Nigeria’s progress and long-term sustainability.

Sanusi Speaks Out: Blaming Tinubu for Nigeria’s Economic Crisis Is Dishonest — The Hard Truth About Years of Mismanagement.

Former Central Bank Governor and 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying it would be unfair to hold the current administration responsible for the country’s present economic challenges.

Speaking on the state of the nation, Sanusi noted:

“For years, I have consistently warned about the looming economic crisis. Any economist familiar with Nigeria’s monetary policy over the past eight years could see this hardship coming. What we are facing today is only the beginning, unless the right steps are taken. This is not unique to Nigeria, we’ve seen similar situations in countries like Germany, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Venezuela.

The previous administration ignored repeated calls for corrective measures. I even said, in the presence of the current president during an event in Kaduna, that any politician who promises an easy way out is not being truthful. Sadly, many dismissed my warnings as mere politics.

If we are being honest and fair, Tinubu is not to blame for the current hardship. For eight years, Nigeria lived beyond its means accumulating unsustainable domestic and foreign debt. The Central Bank alone owes over N30 trillion, and debt service now exceeds 100% of government revenue.

I will always speak out if I see bad economic policies, but in this case, Tinubu inherited a broken system. Removing fuel subsidy was inevitable Nigeria simply cannot afford it anymore.”

Sanusi emphasized that while no administration is perfect, it is unjust to hold Tinubu solely responsible for conditions created by years of economic mismanagement.

Iran Confirms Strike on U.S. Air Force Base in Qatar in Retaliation for June 22 Attacks

The Iranian government has officially announced that it launched a military strike targeting the U.S. Air Force base at Al Udeid in Qatar. According to Iranian authorities, the action was taken in direct retaliation for U.S. airstrikes carried out against Iranian assets on Sunday, June 22.

While full details of the incident are still emerging, the development marks a significant escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington in the Gulf region. There has been no immediate response from U.S. defense officials regarding the extent of the damage or potential casualties.

This latest exchange underscores the growing volatility in the Middle East and raises concerns about further military confrontations between the two nations.

Ogala: Supreme Court Ruling on Local Government Autonomy Will Strengthen Grassroots Democracy

Chief Babatunde Ogala, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Lead Counsel to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has lauded the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming the financial autonomy of local governments, describing it as a pivotal step toward deepening grassroots democracy in Nigeria.

Speaking during the weekend’s edition of the Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference, Ogala noted that while the Nigerian Constitution has always recognised the independence of the nation’s 774 local government areas (LGAs), interpretational ambiguities have allowed certain state governments to undermine this constitutional guarantee.

“The Supreme Court’s judgment of February 28, 2025, removed all uncertainty. The court made it clear that funds meant for local governments must be paid directly to them, and not routed through state governments,” he affirmed.

According to Ogala, the landmark ruling restores both accountability and developmental momentum at the local level. “It will unlock critical resources, revive community-based governance, and restore the people’s trust in the political process,” he added.

He urged state governments to complement federal allocations with contributions from their internally generated revenues (IGR) to further empower local councils and accelerate development.

Highlighting the broader implications, Ogala emphasized that true financial independence for LGAs is a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as it promotes transparency, decentralisation, and effective service delivery at the grassroots.

The Renewed Hope Global Virtual Town Hall Conference, chaired by Ambassador J.K. Adebola, continues to provide a dynamic civic engagement platform, connecting Nigerians at home and abroad with policymakers and government leaders on a weekly basis.

Prophet Jeremiah Launches “Jeru-Sand”!

While Israel is dodging missiles, Prophet Jeremiah is dodging poverty by allegedly selling the Sand of Jerusalem! Yes o, forget cement and blocks, this holy dust is the new building material for destiny.

According to the Prophet, just sprinkle it and boom! Your house go build itself. Add small prayer, and a whole city will rise. No bulldozer, no engineer just faith and 500k.

The best part? It’s not expensive… just the small sum of half a million Naira for a ziplock of sacred Sahara.

🏗️✨ Moral lesson: Me sef dey save for my own. Na estate I wan build. 😂

🔍 In-Depth: Why Rewane Predicts ₦1,600–₦1,650/$ in June–July, 2025

📉 Converging FX Rates

According to economist Bismarck Rewane, CEO of Financial Derivatives, Nigeria’s official and parallel foreign exchange (FX) rates have narrowed significantly—now within a ₦50 spread, a notable improvement from previous gaps of 50–70% . He attributes this to more effective Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) interventions.

FX Forecast: ₦1,600–₦1,650/$

Speaking at the Lagos Business School breakfast event, Rewane projected that the naira would stabilize between ₦1,600 and ₦1,650 per dollar in June and July .

He noted:

• The naira is currently undervalued by ~27%, suggesting room for soft recovery .

• A weaker US dollar (down ~8.7% YTD) adds tailwind to naira strength .

📊 Stabilization Factors

Rewane credits two main drivers:

1. Reduced Money Supply Growth
After soaring by 78% year-on-year to nearly ₦100 trillion in May 2024, the CBN has successfully curbed the growth rate through tighter monetary controls .

2. Ongoing CBN FX Interventions
Sustained activity in the foreign exchange market has smoothed supply, aiding in rate convergence across official and parallel windows .

📌 Broader Economic Outlook

During the same session, Rewane also shared:
• Inflation may decelerate slightly to around 23.2%

• Q1 2025 real GDP growth expected at 3.4%

• Brent crude oil priced between $60–63/barrel

• Local fuel prices: PMS ~₦845/litre; diesel ~₦950/litre

• He anticipates a 50 basis-point cut in the CBN’s benchmark interest rate at the next Monetary Policy Committee meeting

✅ Bottom Line

Rewane’s forecast signals cautious optimism.

After a period of intense liquidity growth and FX volatility, Nigeria could see the naira stabilize in the mid-₦1,600s to the dollar.

However, this outlook depends heavily on continued CBN discipline in managing money supply and foreign exchange interventions, as well as broader macroeconomic recovery.

In a bold step toward global connectivity and infrastructure advancement, Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced the successful installation of a world-class aerodrome lighting system at the Gateway International Airport, reinforcing the state’s emergence as a leading industrial and transportation hub in Nigeria.

“This milestone positions the Gateway International Airport among the most advanced aviation facilities in Nigeria,” the governor stated via his official page. “We are transforming Ogun into a center of modern infrastructure and global access.”

🇳🇬 Benue Massacre: Defence Chief Reassures Communities of Army’s Commitment to End Killings

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to ending the incessant violence and loss of lives across Benue State.

Speaking on Monday during a visit to Yelewata for an on-the-ground security assessment, General Musa assured residents that the military, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive, is intensifying efforts to restore peace. He noted that his visit was aimed at obtaining firsthand intelligence, engaging troops, and realigning operational strategies for improved outcomes.

“We acknowledge the concerns of the people. There may have been trust issues in the past, but we are working to rebuild that confidence and foster unity in the fight against criminal elements,” General Musa stated.

He called for continued cooperation from the Benue State Government, traditional rulers, and local communities, stressing that collective action is essential to defeating insecurity. He expressed hope that the attack in Yelewata would be the last of its kind, adding that new strategies are being implemented to protect citizens nationwide.

Also present during the visit was the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who condemned the Yelewata massacre as a direct affront not just to Benue State, but to the nation as a whole. He reaffirmed the police’s solidarity with the people, pledging intensified collaboration with other security agencies to restore calm.

“We urge residents to work closely with us. Share information, no matter how small confidentiality is guaranteed. We must unite against those who seek to destabilize our peace,” the IGP urged.

Governor Hyacinth Alia praised President Tinubu for his swift response and commended the presence of top security officials, saying it had rekindled public trust in the federal government’s commitment to Benue.

“These killings are unjust, heartbreaking, and must end. Security forces are now on the ground, and we believe with the renewed assurances from the CDS and IGP, we will see a turning point,” the Governor said.

The Governor also urged citizens to stay resilient and prayed for the souls of the victims.

Earlier, the Chairman of Benue ALGON and Guma Local Government, Mr. Mourice Orwough, appealed for more boots on the ground to safeguard lives and properties in the affected areas.
