Do we still need Pride Month? 1000% yes.

Pride Month 2026 is here, and every June the same question gets asked but this year feels more important than ever - so here’s the answer. Being LGBTQ+ is still criminalised in 65 countries. Anti-LGBTQ+ hate crime in the UK is up over the last five years. Section 28 was repealed within most of our lifetimes. Pride didn’t start as a party - it started as a riot, led by trans women like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera.

So yes, we party. But we remember why Pride exists in the first place: protest, visibility, and the people who fought so we could be here at all.

Go and have the best Pride Month of your life - you’ve earned it.
