A week ago Union’s Head of 2D/DFX Supervisor, Dillan Nicholls and CG/On-set Supervisor, Noel O’Malley took to the stage at ACMSIGGRAPH’s Rainbow Conference to present ‘All The Rage: Planning the Apocalypse- Union VFX’s Path to Cinematic Chaos in 28 Years Later’.

28 Years Later was an epic adventure for us and we’re very proud to share the VFX breakdown reel of our work on Sony Pictures’ critically acclaimed picture.

Led by Union Co-founder and Overall VFX Supervisor Adam Gascoyne (who worked as a compositor on the original 28 Days Later), a team of 142 artists across both our London and Montréal studios delivered over 900 shots for this highly anticipated sequel.  

The VFX worked seamlessly alongside pivotal story points to creatively enhance the narrative and work in tandem with Boyle’s vision of an isolated UK three decades after the rage virus took hold.  

Huge thanks to every member of the team who poured so much love into this project. Enjoy the full spectrum of VFX in all its gore-y glory!

28 Ans Plus T**d a été une aventure exceptionnelle pour notre équipe, et nous sommes très fiers de partager le breakdown d’effets visuels de notre travail sur le film salué par les critique de Sony Pictures.

Sous la direction d’Adam Gascoyne, co-fondateur d’Union et superviseur VFX (qui avait participé en tant que compositeur au film original 28 Jours Plus T**d), une équipe de 142 artistes répartis entre nos studios de Londres et de Montréal a réalisé plus de 900 plans pour cette suite très attendue.

Les effets visuels se sont intégrés de manière fluide aux moments clés de l’intrigue, enrichissant la narration et soutenant pleinement la vision de Danny Boyle d’un Royaume-Uni isolé, trois décennies après l’apparition du virus de la rage.

Nous adressons nos plus vifs remerciements à l’ensemble de l’équipe, qui a consacré passion et talent à ce projet. Découvrez toute l’ampleur des effets visuels, dans leur dimension la plus spectaculaire.
