I think we need to change the mindset that if you play for Real Madrid, you’re automatically seen as better than others.
When you see that players like Kroos, Nacho, Carvajal and Modric won 5 trophies of the UCL it is a bit unfair, because these players are not even close to being the best in their positions.

But instead of just enjoying it, he picked up a yellow card (apparently for "provoking" the crowd or disrespect), some Benfica players got heated, and then he reported racist abuse (including what looks like a Benfica player—Gianluca Prestianni—covering his mouth while allegedly saying something derogatory like a racial slur). The ref triggered the anti-racism protocol, the match paused for about 10 minutes, Vinicius briefly left the pitch in frustration, and things got tense with objects thrown and a Benfica staff member sent off.
No celebration, no matter how animated, justifies racist words or abuse.

Dancing doesn't "warrant" slurs—racism isn't a response to excitement; it's prejudice. Vinicius has faced this repeatedly (Valencia, Mallorca, Atletico, etc.), often tied to critics saying he should "stop dancing" or "respect opponents," which he and many others have called out as rooted in racism toward a successful Black Brazilian in Europe.

In earlier eras, Legends like Abedi Pele (or Milla's lambada-style corner-flag routine at the 1990 World Cup) got love for bringing personality and flair. Today, similar joy from Vinicius gets weaponized. It's not about the dance—it's about who’s doing it and the double standards.

Racism has no place in football or anywhere. Vinicius shouldn't have to tone down his happiness to avoid it. Keep dancing, Vini—pure joy like that is what makes the game beautiful. 🇧🇷 No to racism. 🫡
