THE MEDIOCRE POLITICS OF SSEDUGE!

The president of Social Democratic party (SDP) Micheal Mabikke is now the secretary General of Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba ' s party. The president of People's Democratic party (PDP) pastor AbedBwanika is the National treasurer of the Masaka party.

Many dealers are former members of other parties, especially FDC, DP, and PDP, yet they carry no new ideological content into DF.

The masaka kweterana association leaders accuse National Unity Platform of intolerance, but have built a party whose first major announcements were attacks on their former colleagues rather than policy. We all witnessed another political party leader attacking NUP.

In summary the party is rooted in masaka with its president aiming only to survive the coming election and a tree that will be used to negotiate deals.

If a party can't even design a proper logo, how can it lead a nation? A mere art illustration

This chaotic emblem reflects the same confusion and lack of vision that defines Mpuuga’s breakaway faction. Poor branding isn’t just a design flaw — it’s a leadership flaw.

Ugandans deserve clarity, not confusion. Vision, not vanity.

The recent detention of Eddie Mutwe by General Muhoozi is not merely an isolated incident—it is a gross abuse of power and a clear constitutional violation. Soldiers detaining citizens in their basements, outside the framework of due process and judicial oversight, exposes a deep crisis in governance. This is not just a military excess; it is a political failure.

Under a constitutional order, the military must operate under civilian authority and within the bounds of the law. When armed forces are used to carry out personal or political vendettas, it signals the collapse of democratic oversight. The ruling party sets the policy agenda that directs military conduct. If that party—or its civilian leadership—cannot or will not restrain the military from unlawful actions, then it has forfeited its legitimacy to lead.

What we are witnessing is the erosion of the rule of law. If Muhoozi can unilaterally order the illegal detention of a citizen without consequence, what remains of our constitutional safeguards? It is the duty of every citizen, and especially our judiciary and parliament, to condemn and resist such authoritarian drift.

This moment calls for clarity and courage. Civilian leadership that cannot call the military to order is not leadership—it is complicity. And complicity in constitutional violations is unforgivable.

Over a quarter of a million people from all walks of life gathered in St. Peter’s Square on Saturday to bid their final farewell to Pope Francis at his Requiem Mass.

The solemn liturgy was presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals, who was joined by around 250 Cardinals, Patriarchs, Archbishops, Bishops, priests, consecrated religious, and lay people.

In his homily, Cardinal Re delved into the many highlights of his remarkable and intense 12 years of Petrine Ministry, marked by his style of closeness to the people and spontaneity of his actions until the very end, but most importantly, his deep love for the Church.

Tonight, at 8 p.m., at the Altar of Confession in the Basilica of St. Peter, as announced, the rite of closing the Roman Pontiff's coffin was held.

During the rite, presided over by Cardinal Camerlengo, the Master of Liturgical Celebrations made the reading of the "Rogito" (Scripture), which was placed inside the coffin at the end of the ceremony.

In addition to the people listed in the Notification of the Department of Liturgical Celebrations, some of the Pope's relatives also participated in the rite.

The celebration, conducted in accordance with the prescriptions of the "Ordo Exsequiarum Romani Pontificis", ended at 9 p.m.

During the night, the Head of St. Peter will ensure a prayer and vigil presence with the body of the Pontiff, until the preparations for the Holy Mass tomorrow morning.

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra seal the doors of the papal apartment in the Apostolic Palace and the door to the apartment of the Casa Santa Marta, where the late Pope Francis lived.

The rite of the certification of death and placement in the coffin took place on Monday evening at 8:00 PM in the chapel of the Casa Santa Marta.

During the rite, the declaration of death was read aloud. The act was validated by Cardinal Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, and the ceremony lasted just under an hour.

The first General Congregation of Cardinals will take place on Tuesday morning, during which a date for the funeral of Pope Francis may be decided.

In Uganda, particularly Kampala, the spectacle of presidential convoys is far from a symbol of progress—it’s a deadly blockade. While the elite parade in their motorcades, our streets become choked, and ambulances lose precious minutes that could mean the difference between life and death. It is absurd that a system so enamored with pomp and power prioritizes the luxury of a motorcade over the urgency of lifesaving care.

Every minute an ambulance is delayed by these convoys, a life is put at risk. The roads, transformed into lethal barricades by these parades, are not stages for power plays but essential passageways for those in desperate need of immediate assistance. The opulence of a presidential convoy, far from being a matter of pride, is a stark slap in the face to everyday Ugandans who suffer when emergency services cannot reach their destinations.

Our home Uganda deserves safe passage. The current system values style over substance, and in doing so, it endangers lives. The reality is clear: in a country where every second counts, the diversion of our roads for political pageantry is not just an inconvenience—it is a deadly injustice that must be addressed.
