Few days ago, the whole world celebrated National Author’s Day. In celebration of this, we decided to prepare a list of the 5 best book adaptations of all time, based on AMG. Media Group opinion.
⠀
1️⃣Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004)
⠀
The film is based on the book of the same name by J.K. Rowling, the third in her wildly popular Harry Potter series.🪄
The main difference between the film and the book is that the Marauders and their map play a huge role in both the book and the movie, but their backstory and the ways the map is used differ slightly on-screen.
⠀
2️⃣The Godfather (1972, 1974)
⠀
Mario Puzo's novel is a gripping, dark thriller that fascinates, horrifies, and entertains. The first two films, which Francis Ford Coppola adapted from the novel, elevate this dark tale to an operatic triumph that some consider two of the best films ever made. By the way, both films won Oscar awards for best picture and best-adapted screenplay.
⠀
3️⃣The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
⠀
Based on J.R.R. Tolkien's 1954 fantasy novel, part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy it is one of the most famous films all over the world.
Hobbit Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) finds himself in possession of the One Ring, a powerful force being sought by many, including the villainous wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee).
However, the book opens with an expansive prologue that explains the history of the ring and hobbits, which was mostly scrapped for the film.
⠀
4️⃣Forrest Gump (1994)
⠀
Forrest Gump won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Some find the picture charming and filled with wisdom, and some find no wisdom at all. Winston Groom's novel is darker and more morally complex than the streamlined character portrayed by Tom Hanks, but excluding that complexity in favour of a sprawling journey through the 20th century is key to the power and charm of this film.
⠀
5️⃣Jurassic Park (1993)🦕
⠀
“Jurassic Park" is a thrill, stunning visual effects, great music and sensational acting under the direct supervision of Steven Spielberg. 🦖
