Blender 5.2 Brings Editable Physics to Geometry Nodes...
Blender 5.2 LTS introduces experimental cloth and hair physics directly inside Geometry Nodes — but the real significance goes beyond adding another simulation tool.
The new system uses an XPBD Solver beneath higher-level Cloth Dynamics and Hair Dynamics assets. Artists can use those assets for faster setup or open the underlying node groups to modify constraints, effectors and forces themselves.
This first release is still limited. It does not bring rigid-body or traditional soft-body physics into Geometry Nodes, and features such as advanced cloth self-collision and ready-made wind or turbulence forces remain incomplete.
However, Blender is beginning to transform physics from a closed collection of settings into part of its wider procedural workflow.
That could allow future simulations to respond more directly to geometry, attributes, custom logic and artist-built systems — moving Blender closer to the flexible, node-driven approach associated with specialist procedural tools.
It is not total physics parity with established VFX platforms. It is the beginning of something potentially more important: simulations artists can inspect, adapt and rebuild.
