Interiors, outfits, travel and vintage… all the things that normally keep me inspired.

The last few weeks, though, have been a rollercoaster. My birthday was such a beautiful high, and then this weekend hit me with a bit of a low. My body is very clearly asking me to pay attention to things I’ve been trying (not very successfully) to ignore.

But we carry on.
One foot in front of the other.
And I’m holding close the things I’m grateful for: my friends, my family, my college course and the incredible people I’m studying alongside, my beautiful home, my gorgeous dog… and all of you. Your messages, kindness and presence have kept me steady when I could so easily have faltered.

Christmas is looming and this year it feels tender - anothef “first” I’m going to have to navigate - but I’m trusting there will be pockets of joy tucked inside it somewhere.

If you’re not in the best place either, I’m sending you the biggest hug. Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing your best. And that really is enough.

P.S. The shots here include some wonderful people and small businesses who’ve brought me glimmers of happiness over the last few weeks and for that I’m hugely thankful ♥️

Ad. When the lovely team got in touch to see if I’d like to partner with them to create a series of posts about their “special places to stay”, I could honestly have cried.

My mum booked all our family holidays through them when I was growing up, so it felt as if fate had stepped in  - bringing this lovely UK-based business into my life at a moment when I am really in need of R&R.

My first call was to Tamara - we’ve been talking about going on another sourcing trip for ages, and this felt like the perfect excuse. We intended to pack light (but well you know!) and headed to the station. Travelling by train felt like the right choice - no stress, no traffic, just that instant holiday feeling the moment you leave the house. And of course, it’s kinder to the planet too.

We chose to visit The White Swan Inn in Pickering Yorkshire, one of the gems in Car-Free Collection  - a thoughtful curation of places easily reached by public transport, part of their commitment to meeting guests where they are.

The White Swan turned out to be the a fabulous base - cosy interiors and comfy bedrooms, great food, and ideally located in a vibrant highstreet, close to Malton the foodie capital of Yorkshire and a perfect fit for our shared love of sustainability, antiques, and the slower, more considered way of living that both of Tamara, I and value so much.

Head over to my stories to see what we got up to, links to the pub and to couple of other pubs with rooms I’ve got my eye on!

Oh and don’t forget to save this post for your next trip to Yorkshire!

Ad. Are you leaning into autumn? 🍂 Have you turned your heating on?!

Whilst it’s always sad to say goodbye to summer there’s nothing like a new season to make you want to switch things up at home. Now that I’ve got my daughter’s (relatively newly) redecorated bedroom to play with, I’ve taken the opportunity to bring in a few new pieces from to add a touch of autumn to her space — just thoughtful swaps that instantly make it feel warmer, cosier and more inviting.

I chose an oversized rattan bedside lamp to create a soft golden glow and some soft textured throws which I layered over natural fibre bedding to ground the space and make it feel calm and cosy

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: you don’t need a full makeover to create a seasonal shift — just a few little touches that make you want to curl up with a book (or hibernate until spring!).

A few thoughtful swaps, has given this room a whole new mood. What’s your favourite - the throws, the bedding, or that lamp?

Ad/press trip. Sometimes terrible things happen in life — and sometimes, really beautiful things do too.

I’ve just spent 24 hours in the company of Charlotte and Ema from .world and this particular experience fell firmly into the “really beautiful” camp.

Not just because we stayed at the most stunning hotel , with its gorgeous interiors, not just because I had one of the best massages of my life and ate some incredible food at Charlotte’s house and , not just because we toured Oxford with Lizzy and visited … but because I got to do all of this with an amazing group of warm, talented, creative women.

The company of women has always brought me a lot of joy, and on this occasion that was especially true. There’s nothing quite as nourishing as finding kindred spirits — people you can feel relaxed around and connect with in a genuinely effortless, non-judgemental way.

At the heart of it all was .world, a brand built around the beauty of everyday rituals. From their restorative massages to their fragrances and body care, everything is designed to help you pause, breathe, and find a little balance in the middle of busy life. I’ve brought some of their products home with me, and I can’t wait to weave that sense of calm into my own routine.

So a huge thank you to Charlotte and Ema .world for inviting me — and also to , , , and for being such a fabulous .world girl gang! ❤️

Btw Oxford is divine — if you haven’t been, you must, and I’d highly recommend staying at ✨

Life lately - well it’s been tough, the last few months (and particularly the last few weeks) have been really challenging for me.

But amidst the struggles, I've found little pockets of joy. Like a wonderful supper club with my daughter at in North London where 's cooking stole the show!

There have been loving gestures from friends, like flowers, cakes handwritten notes, and surprise visits, which have all lifted my spirits. Spending time in nature, catching up with girlfriends, and pursuing my passions have also helped me find my footing.

I'm proud of myself for pushing through and starting my postgrad diploma last week. Sometimes, we surprise ourselves with our own resilience.

If you're struggling, I can highly recommend 's Existential zone on YouTube; her videos are about living, loving and learning how to be in the world in a better way.

It’s not easy, it takes courage but all you can do is try.

“To be worthy of yourself is to be worthy of life: all you have to do is live with zest and a readiness to learn. None of us are perfect and goodness is earned. Each day we try and fail is a day we are doing our best”.

Sending you a big hug if you need one.

Goodbye August…

It’s been a real mixed bag this month – some personal challenges (because when isn’t there something?), but also the good stuff: Mum finally home, some cracking antiquing finds in France, finishing my aligner journey (hello straighter teeth 👄), and waking up to skin that’s glowy enough to make me do a double take in the mirror!

Not to mention lido swims, fresh flowers, stripey tops, baby cuddles and some new piercings!

I’ve also made time for my friends, some house faffing, dog walks in nature, and my gorgeous kids – basically all the things that help me keep my sh*t together!

I’m rolling into September hoping for more laughs, more walks, and slightly fewer “what the actual f**k just happened” moments 🤣

Bring it on, September – let’s see what you’ve got for me 💪

Evening! If you’ve been keeping up with my stories this week you’ll know I’ve just returned from a mini-break with my daughter to the Yorkshire Dales.

The .co cabin we stayed in was nestled in a pine forest, overlooking the breathtaking Wensleydale Valley and it was the ultimate off-grid luxury experience!

We indulged in (very) slow mornings, enjoyed vast blue (and grey) skies, scenic (hilly) walks, and refreshing swims (and paddles) in the river, plus plenty of time indoors admiring the stunning view from the ridiculously comfy bed!

Swipe through the photos to catch some of our adventures, and don’t forget to save this post if you’re dreaming of a wilderness escape with someone special.

Or better yet, send it to them and get them to book a trip for both of you - BTW you can get ÂŁ50 off a stay by entering the code WILDCARD at checkout and mentioning my name (Samantha Hansard) in the booking notes.

Sam ❤️

P.S. This is not an “ad”, I bought and paid for this trip for the two of us but wanted to share the details with you so you can enjoy some downtime too if you need it.
