now I understand why so many women get diagnosed during pregnancy/when they have a baby.

all of your coping mechanisms go out the window, it feels impossible to regulate…the sleep deprivation, the sensory overload, never getting a break.

plus the lack of resources and support, especially postpartum.

not to mention how autistic people are more likely to develop PPD and PPA, than non-autistic.

it’s a lot.

🫶🏻 if you relate, my friend and I are building something from scratch - a safe community, by neurodivergent mums for neurodivergent mums.

COMMENT ‘neuromum’ to be added to the waitlist - it’s FREE!!!!

Yeah this really was my first ever concert, people might be like “tf have you been living under a rock?!”

But when you’re neurodivergent, the world and everyday experiences really are amplified and sometimes it’s really fcking hard to just DO the things everyone else seems to be able to with ease.

Anyway overall 10/10 would do it again and I’m proud of myself for going and also recognising my needs (explained in the slides).

Also want to add that Wembley Stadium can provide neurodiversity and sensory accommodations, like sensory rooms for example. You have to apply before the event - I didn’t need this in the end but good to know there would have been an option if I did.

There were other folks wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower too representing hidden/non-visible disabilities which made me feel so much more comfortable as well!

I don’t think I have ever felt proud of myself, ever in life. Or acknowledged any of my achievements. Degrees. Competitions. Academic excellence. Buying a home. Having a baby. Learning to unmask. None of it, it’s always just like “oh job done, what’s next?” 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s constant dopamine chasing and it looks like ‘success’ but in reality it’s all part of a brain that just cannot get enough. I’m an attention seeker if you will 😂🙃

At this point if something doesn’t make me anxious, that’s just sus asf 🤘🏻

Jokes aside, I rarely see neurodivergent folks talk about how debilitating anxiety can be especially when you’re also autistic + ADHD and your brain doesn’t switch off.

I’d be curious to see if anyone relates or is this just me and I truly have a problem here? 😂😵‍💫
