A 101-year-old great-grandmother has reportedly been arrested by the NDLEA in Ogun State for allegedly selling cannabis in sachets.
Esther Ogunmabo was allegedly found with 90g of skunk. She reportedly told NDLEA operatives that she resorted to the illegal trade after her provisions shop was destroyed by fire. She also claimed that her daughter supplied the drugs.
Due to her advanced age, NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa ordered that she be granted bail and undergo counselling, while her daughter was arrested.
The incident has sparked reactions, with many questioning the hardship and circumstances that may have led a 101-year-old woman into the illicit drug trade.

Canada Warns Visa Applicants About Fraud
Canadian immigration authorities have warned visa applicants to be cautious of fraudsters who target people seeking to travel, study, work or settle in Canada.
Applicants have been advised to watch for four major warning signs: anyone who guarantees visa approval, requests payment through unofficial channels, falsely claims to be a Canadian immigration official, or offers fake documents and unrealistic job opportunities.
Authorities urged applicants to verify immigration information through official Canadian government channels and avoid sharing personal information or sending money to suspicious individuals.
They also warned that submitting false information or fraudulent documents can lead to visa refusal and other serious immigration consequences.
Applicants who encounter suspected immigration fraud are encouraged to report it to the appropriate Canadian authorities.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for an end to the months-long war with the United States, saying Tehran should move towards ending the conflict while it remains in a “position of power and dignity”.
Pezeshkian also defended the June memorandum of understanding reached with Washington, which has faced criticism from hardliners in the Iranian parliament. Pezeshkian is believed to be among the “reformist” in Iranian establishment, according to a report.
His critics have accused the government of making concessions to the US. Pezeshkian rejected the charge, saying the agreement did not require Tehran to capitulate.
