Prime Minister Andy Burnham visited an illegal dump in West Yorkshire to launch Britain's toughest ever crackdown on waste crime. Fly-tippers will now be forced to foot the full clean-up bill, and the National Crime Agency has been brought in to take down the organised criminal gangs running large-scale illegal dumping operations across the country.

Nigel Farage has won back his Clacton seat with 63.3% of the vote, in a by-election boycotted by every major party, who called it a deliberate stunt. With no Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, or Green candidate standing, satirical candidate Count Binface recorded his strongest ever result. And barely had the votes been counted before the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner formally resumed its investigation into Farage's alleged undeclared $6.7 million cryptocurrency gift.

Westminster City Council has proposed curbing so-called "vertical drinking", standing while having a drink, in Soho to manage late-night disorder. The response from Andy Burnham and London Mayor Sadiq Khan was swift and furious. Khan accused the council of running a world-famous nightlife district with a "village-hall mindset." Burnham pledged to defend pub culture.

Ed Miliband has held a high-level bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington, with European defence responsibility and NATO burden-sharing at the heart of the talks. The Trump administration's message to Europe has been clear and consistent: pay more for your own defence, or America will not always be there to pick up the bill.

New government rules now mean all apprenticeship training for eligible under-25s is fully state-funded, removing the cost barrier that has stopped thousands of young people accessing skilled trades and careers. Small businesses hiring young apprentices will receive up to ยฃ8,000 in incentives.

Faced with a critical prison overcrowding crisis, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has personally stepped in to overhaul the emergency early release scheme, explicitly barring the most serious sexual offenders from any consideration for early release, regardless of how overcrowded prisons become. These are not abstract policy decisions. These are protections for real victims and real communities.

A very public row has erupted between Nigel Farage and Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe over claims of electoral pact talks, with Lowe denying formal discussions ever happened while pointedly leaving the door open for future cooperation. The split is playing out in public, in the press, and across social media, and every moment of it is a gift to Andy Burnham's government.
