For today’s post it’s Indy 500 for the Atari 2600 along with the required driving controller.

This controller is different to the usual paddles in that it has continuous rotation in each direction.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work on the original 2600+ but does work on the 7800+ and later Pac-man edition of the 2600+

Retro Christmas 2025 🎁🎄🎅

Well that’s another Christmas over. Hope you had a good one and Santa brought you what you wanted.

These weren’t exactly Christmas presents, but the fact that they both arrived in the week before Christmas was great timing. Luckily I’ve got a few days off work to spend some time playing with these.

Retrobrite disaster 🌞💥😭

For my second post for today's hosted by .retro.tech, I'm sharing my first retrobriting disaster!

After the successes I've had restoring C64C keyboards recently, I thought I'd give a couple of yellowing breadbin keyboards the retrobrite treatment using some 6% hydrogen peroxide cream. I applied it to the top of the keycaps and wrapped the keyboards in food wrap to stop the cream drying out.

Unfortunately, whilst one of the keyboards turned out perfectly, the other has ended up ruined with bleached keys! Looking online, it appears this is a common problem with the brown keys. Needless to say I'm pretty annoyed at myself for ruining this, and a bit puzzled by the completely different results.

The moral of this story is DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide with brown keycaps. I'll have to investigate safer ways to restore these in future.

C64 case repairs ⬇️

It's day 19 of hosted by .retro.tech and in my first post for today I'm sharing my successful repairs to a couple of breadbin cases.

The first case is from my C64G, which was missing several of the motherboard standoffs. I repaired this using a standoff repair kit from .

The second case had a broken bracket, which was repaired using a 3D printed bracket, again from ami64.com.

As we head towards the end of summer, I'm making the most of the Sun when it appears. Yesterday, I retrobrited a set of yellowing C64 keys in a solution of 12% hydrogen peroxide. I was so pleased with result, I've decided to used them on my replica C64G.

This is the Commodore 64 Programmers Reference Guide and if you only get one book on the C64 this is it. I use it so much that I have two copies!
