In November, Ghana’s capital transformed into a stage for creativity during Accra Cultural Week. Anchoring this year’s programme was Serge Attukwei Clottey’s ( ) monumental exhibition at , ‘[Dis]Appearing Rituals: An Open Lab of Now for Tomorrow’. Clottey builds a world that reflects on Jamestown, one of Accra’s oldest districts, across installation (featuring his iconic yellow gallon cans), sculpture, performance, photography, and painting.

Another highlight of Accra Cultural Week: the inaugural solo show by Ghanaian artist Denyse Gawu Mensah (.gm), winner of The Yaa Asantewaa Art Prize in 2024 – dedicated to women artists living and working in the country and its diaspora. ‘LIGHTYEARS OF US’ draws on Gawu Mensah’s rich family archive of photographs from Ghana’s post-independence era, reconstructing personal and collective histories into tactile records of time.

Pelham was proud to partner with Gallery 1957 to spearhead an international media campaign for this cornerstone of Accra’s cultural calendar. Swipe to read more about its impact.

Reflecting on the relationship between q***r women and the ocean, Alice Austen House’s current exhibition (open until February 21, 2026) has been making waves across major publications.

Curator Gemma Rolls-Bentley’s vision brings together 14 contemporary artists to offer new, existing and site-specific works that respond to Alice Austen’s photographs and her extensive shell collection. Rolls-Bentley shared that “there’s something in both Alice’s work and that of the artists in this show that sees the sea as a site of limitless potential — a space of opportunity, hope, and unconditional acceptance.”

Alice Austen House continues to honour the radical legacy of its namesake through contemporary exhibitions 🙌

Sara’s powerful commission is only one such example of the current global spotlight on the Nordic art scene. From June to September, 2025 unfolded across the city in a reimagining of humanity’s relationship with nature – while institutions such as the National Museum of Norway () are also staging major exhibitions.

Fast forward to 2026: Oulu — the European Capital of Culture — will be transformed into a citywide celebration of art & culture, and the will return to the Venice Biennale. It’s a timely moment to ask: what’s shaping the art across the region?
