STREET SOUNDS RADIO – 6 YEARS TODAY!

Today marks six incredible years of Street Sounds Radio, and what a journey it has been.
Six years and what an extraordinary journey it has been!
When we started on 31st August 2020, we had a vision, a passion for the music we love and a desire to create something special, a station that would bring together incredible music, incredible people and, above all, give you the ‘soundtrack to your life’.
Six years later, Street Sounds Radio has grown substantially, far beyond what we could ever have imagined.
Our audience has grown. Our family has grown. Our reach has grown. And our presence within the music community has grown.
But perhaps what makes me proudest of all is not simply how much Street Sounds Radio has grown – it is the impact the station has had on so many people's lives.
Because over these six years, we have lived life together.
We have shared the joys and the pain, celebrated the good times and supported each other through the difficult ones. We have laughed together and we have cried together.
We were united through Covid, at a time when so many of us were separated from our families, our friends and the world we knew.
Through those incredibly difficult and uncertain days, the music kept playing, our Presenters kept broadcasting and, most importantly, we were there for each other.
For many, Street Sounds Radio became more than somewhere to hear great music. It became companionship. A familiar voice. A connection to others. A place to escape for a few hours and a reminder that, even during some of the loneliest moments, we were still connected through our love of music.
That means more to me than any listening figure or statistic ever could. Think of the friendships that have been made, the memories we have shared the conversations, the laughter, the tears. The messages, the stories.
And, always, the incredible music that has provided the soundtrack to our lives.
That, to me, is what makes Street Sounds Radio so special.
Street Sounds is so much more than a radio station, it is a family; a community brought together by the music we love and everything we have shared along the way.
And as Street Sounds Radio has grown, so too has our involvement in the music we love beyond the studio. Along the way, we've also had the privilege of being involved with so many incredible shows and events, and 2026 has been another extraordinary year.
From Newcleus at the Jazz Cafe in January, followed by the legendary Kurtis Blow at the Jazz Cafe in February, to The Fatback Band at 229 in March. Then, just a few weeks ago, we were the official media partners (for the second year) and supplied the DJs for the fantastic Margate Soul Weekender.
And the journey continues...on 5th September in Manchester and 6th September in London, we’re bringing you Maze, before another truly historic moment, UK Fresh '26’, on the 7th November, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic UK Fresh ‘86’.
To be involved with events and artists that represent so much of the music, culture and history that we love is something that makes me immensely proud and honoured.
But there is another group of people I could not be prouder of…Our Street Sounds Radio family of Presenters. ❤️ I genuinely believe we have the most passionate, professional and knowledgeable collection of music aficionados anywhere.
Every Presenter brings their own personality, experience, stories, musical knowledge and above all, their love and passion for the music to Street Sounds Radio.
To every one of our Presenters, past and present THANK YOU.
Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for your professionalism. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Thank you for the countless hours you have given us. And thank you for believing in what Street Sounds Radio stands for.
You are the heartbeat of this station.
And finally, and most importantly – to YOU. Our listeners, our supporters, our Street Sounds Radio family.
Whether you've been with us since that very first day on 31st August 2020, or you discovered Street Sounds Radio only recently; whether you listen every day, send us messages, join the conversations, share our posts, come and say hello at events, or simply turn up the volume when you hear that special tune...THANK YOU ❤️❤️
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for listening, for engaging, for supporting us and for making this journey so amazing.
You have allowed us into your homes, your cars, your workplaces and, hopefully, into your hearts.
Because without you, there simply is no Street Sounds Radio.
And after everything we've experienced together, one thing remains exactly the same as it was when we began, our love of the music.
I am incredibly proud of what we have created together, how far we have come. Proud of the community that has grown around us. Proud of the impact we have had on people's lives and even more excited about where this journey takes us next.
