👋 Say hello to our Futurefolk interns for 2025. After a record number of talented applicants we are thrilled to introduce our two interns Sophia and Leon.

Sophia Harrington (2D) is a big fan of the Coen brothers films and says to work on one would be a dream come true. Whilst their films aren't VFX heavy "I really appreciate when VFX is used invisibly to help set a scene into a specific time and place or contribute towards building a more heightened or stylised world – such as those in the Coens’ films"

Leon House (3D) is going into his third year at University and is an aspiring CG generalist/ lighting artist "although I think my ultimate goal is to end up working in visual development"

Our interns gain real world experience of working in a VFX studio alongside award winning professionals.

Stay tuned to see their progress, we hope it inspires you to apply next year.

Futurefolk will be open again in 2026 so check out our previous posts with tips of getting into internships.

The benefits of a company name change in the last 25 years? You get to appear in the Top 20 Overall Awarded Winners list twice! But, how did we actually rank?

Finish became Freefolk in 2016 as we embarked on expansion and diversified into film & TV. We are the same 100% independently owned creative VFX company today as we’ve always been.

This brings us in at 20.

🛹 TRAILER of Juliet Klottrup's 'Skate Like a Lass' is out! The film was graded by Edward Webb at Freefolk

The film explores grassroots and marginalised skateboarding communities in the North of England. Bridging a gap in historical documentation of skateboarding.

"The brief was simple - to embrace the characteristics of the formats with vibrant colours popping on the film footage. Grading in-person allowed us to finesse the finer details"

"Feeding off the traditional aesthetics of skate films, the film was shot on multiple formats - digital, DV and Super 8. I like the creativity that Super 8 allows, in maintaining authenticity to the subject while also being quite bold with the look" says Edward.

Edward also graded Juliets' short Travelling Home.
