Driverless taxis are now available in London

London has taken another step into the future as autonomous taxis are now available to passengers.

The self-driving cars use artificial intelligence to navigate London’s busy and unpredictable streets. Passengers can book the service through Uber and take a ride without the car being manually driven.

However, there is still a human safety driver inside the vehicle who can take control if necessary.

The service has started with a small number of vehicles and is currently available in selected areas of London. Passengers can also choose a normal Uber if they don’t want to travel in a self-driving car.

This is being seen as an important step towards a future where taxis could operate completely without human drivers.

But the big question is:

Would you trust a self-driving taxi to take you around London? 🤔

Could AI help detect postnatal depression?

A new medical trial in the UK is exploring whether Artificial Intelligence could help detect depression in pregnant women and new mothers.

The technology analyses things such as speech, facial expressions and behaviour to identify possible signs of changes in mood. The hope is that AI could help healthcare professionals spot women who may be struggling and connect them with support earlier.

But this raises an important question:

How comfortable would you be with AI analysing your voice and facial expressions to assess your emotional wellbeing?

AI could potentially become a valuable tool in healthcare but I believe it should support doctors and healthcare professionals, not replace human judgement and compassion.

My African upbringing prepared me to cook, wash dishes, mop, slash grass and take care of my husband. 😂

Today I have a dishwasher, robot vacuum, lawn mower and a husband who takes care of me. ❤️😂

And now AI is coming to do even more of the things we once had to do ourselves.

The lesson?

What was essential yesterday may not be essential tomorrow.

Technology changes the world and eventually, it changes us.

The big question is: what skills will matter when AI does most of the work? 🤔

I love AI and I believe it can transform our lives for the better. But hearing predictions about AI becoming more intelligent than humanity does make me pause.

I don’t think the answer is to fear AI. I think the answer is to make sure humanity remains in control.

As AI becomes more powerful, we need strong boundaries, responsible development and humans making the important decisions.

Technology should serve humanity not the other way around.

The future of AI is exciting, but I believe the future should still belong to us. What do you think?
