That first time in the Arsenal Media Centre is an experience you never forget. You’re sharing a workspace with journalists you’ve always followed. You’ve got some of the best seats in the house and a personal little screen to watch replays on. And of course, the half time quiche is top drawer. Our very own, shanté found her own little piece of home with her first Arsenal Press Pass.

A huge congratulations to the successful applicants of BCOMS’ 2026 BCOMS Media Academy cohort! 🎓

Out of a huge number of applications, we’ve selected this year’s Media Academy programme students. That’s a lot of people who took the leap and put themselves forward for twelve months of masterclasses, mentorship, and direct access to people working in sports media right now. We don’t take that lightly, and neither should you.

🌟To everyone joining us this year: the work starts now. You’ve got a room full of like minded individuals who share your ambition and a network built over fifteen years of doing exactly this: use it.

To everyone who applied and didn’t get a place this time, we want to take a moment to thank you for considering BCOMS to nurture your sports media ambitions. The standard this year made the decisions genuinely difficult, and our BCOMS Membership remains open if you want to stay close to the community while you wait for the next round. It gives you access to our online masterclasses, Discord community, and our jobs board, open to all and self-paced.

The Media Academy exists because the pipeline into this industry has never been open enough, this cohort is another step in fixing that.

South Asian Heritage Month is in full swing and today our Alum Watch spotlight falls on Esha Nayar!

Throughout her career, Esha has often found herself as one of the few South Asian women in the room. Rather than letting that define her, she chose to get on with it and focused on opening doors for others and along the way tell stories that might otherwise go untold.

Representation here isn’t just about being in front of the camera, but also about shining a light on pathways that may have been previously invisible.

There are two ways into BCOMS:

📍The Media Academy: 12 months, in-person, application-only, with only 25 spots per region.

📍 The Membership: a more flexible path, online, self-paced, open to all, join whenever you’re ready.

The interview that Lillian () did with Omar McLeod - you can see an extract in the fifth slide - went viral in Jamaica and humanised the Olympic champion. It wasn’t just about the medals in this moment, it was about the person behind them.

Lillian deeply admires Omar and this interview brought out a side of him that struck a chord with so many. That moment became a defining moment for Lillian - she found her purpose right there. And she’s living up to the responsibility and then some more.
