The industry doesn’t want you to see inside its buildings. There are reasons for that.

Most factory farms are unmarked, unsigned, and in several countries it’s a crime to film inside them.

Two people who’ve spent their lives opening those doors appear in All The World Is Green: Juliet Gellatley, founder of Viva!, and Chris Delforce, director of Dominion and founder of the Farm Transparency Project.

In intensive animal farming, nothing is wasted, and nothing is spared. The animals, the land, the workers, the feed: every component is pushed to its absolute limit to extract the maximum profit in the shortest time, at the lowest possible cost. That isn’t a flaw in the system. It is the system.

Francesca Grazioli, author of Capitalismo Carnivoro and a food systems scientist at Bioversity International, spent years tracing the economic logic behind industrial agriculture, exploring the animal farming industry in her book: Capitalismo Carnivoro.

The plastic in the ocean doesn’t stay in the ocean. It breaks down into particles, attracts toxic “forever chemicals” like DDT and PCBs, and works its way up the food chain, into the fish, on your plate, and then into you.

Callum Roberts, Professor of Marine Conservation at the University of Exeter, has spent decades studying how our seas are changing.
