For this week’s we head to the gloriously sunny South of France, visiting a stunning residential recording studio complex housed in a former winery amongst an inspiring natural environment. This is !
Limusic’s complex is spread across several buildings located around a small square. In one building, you’ll find Studio A, Studio B and the Live Room; these and in fact every room at Limusic have been wired up to be used independently or in combination. Studio A is the main control room, centred around an SSL AWS 948 Delta console alongside an extensive array of outboard and a pair of ATC SCM110ASLs. Next to studio A is the live room, housing a completely refurbished Steinway B-211 Grand from 1876. Studio B contains an SSL Matrix console and can be used as an alternative control room to Studio A, or as an expansion.
On the opposite side of the square lies another set of rooms. At 300sq m the largest Is the Atelier, a fantastic looking multipurpose space used for recording, writing and filming sessions. The wooden floor and ceiling, natural stone wall and size of the room offer truly unique acoustics for strings, choirs and live recordings in general. Underneath the Atelier the old vine reservoirs are now used as reverb chambers. Also here sits the Orangerie; this room’s acoustic resembles a small chapel, making it outstanding for vocals, acoustic instruments and as a reverb chamber. Next to the Atelier, Studio C offers a cosy producer workspace.
Sleeping 22, the whole complex has been sensitively renovated and the owners have done their very best to make it feel like home from the moment you arrive. There’s some great touches like a full outdoor kitchen and dining area, swimming pool looking out over the vineyards, and the beautifully refurbished Roulotte which can be used as accommodation or even as a small producer space immersed in nature.
