On August 27, ZINE COOP received notice that the “Visit Palestine” poster exhibition we were co-presenting could not be launched at the Tai Kwun BOOKED Hong Kong Art Book Fair (8.30-9.1). We were all shocked and disappointed about them backing out last minute and sad that the exhibit would not be shown to the public as planned for the three days of the fair.

We had very little time to think of a solution but were lucky enough to find a private venue supported by a member of our community. It was a pleasant surprise to see over forty people joined us in coming out that night 🥰. We and the exhibit co-organiser did a presentation on the posters, which was followed by a film screening of “Gaza” (2019). It was a great occasion to connect with everyone there who came to show their solidarity and support 🙌🏻.

Luckily, the posters will remain in Hong Kong for the time being, so there are future events where you will be able to see them. Please follow the update of Visit Palestine Project to their upcoming exhibition tour. .palestine_project

We also distribute the exhibition catalogue vol.3. The profit will go to Gaza humanitarian support. DM us to order. Thank you.

🍉🍉 Going to Tokyo for a work trip in April this year and witnessed various local oragnised campaigns in support of Palestinian liberation and ceasefire. A bookstore owner and a friend Ayumi san recommended a small bookley with the cover written “Visit Palestine.” It turned out to be a nationwide poster exhibition organized by several independent units in Koenji. It was lucky to meet with Andy, one of the organizers and the owner of .tokyo. We talked about life in Hong Kong and the possibility of bringing over the poster exhibition. And so, the realization of the exhibition began to unfold...

A curated exhibition of 16 original Palestinian protest/ movement posters, rarely seen from 1970 to present time. This collection of original Palestinian posters, which many of have survived nearly half a century, represents to us the long struggle of a people who have the right to exist and deserve to live without fear of displacement or worse. It is an honor to be able to view the posters in real life and encourage others to view them in Hong Kong.
是次海報展將展出16張來自1970年至今罕見的原創巴勒斯坦抗議/運動海報。這些保存了近半個世紀的巴勒斯坦海報，展示了巴勒斯坦人長年的掙扎，並在自己的土地上無所畏懼地存活。能夠藉著是次機會看到這些海報並帶到香港，和大家一起觀看，是一種榮幸。

We also brought Posters catalogue, Zines & goods to sell. Profits will be donate to NGOs in Gaza.
同場發售海報展場刊，相關主題小誌及其他產品，所得收入將捐出作支援加沙用途。

//過去五年，香港出現的種種變化，令大家散落各地，在過程中，相信很多人也在反思自身與世界的關係。香港人可以憑藉自身經驗回應世界發生的事，所謂的香港出版或許也可以從城市、地區層面解放開來。//

當大家認真地反思自己與世界的關係，我相信香港文化群體會越來越厲害。

Posted • Thanks to Initium News for providing a platform to tell the story of Hong Kong publishers and bookstores in the UK, with Nottingham In Common Breath, illustrator/cartoonist Kayla, photographer Peter, and Small Tune Press connects people with British migrant workers and Vietnamese immigrants. They care about different issues and present their ideas in different forms. I like every work mentioned very much.

//The various changes that have occurred in Hong Kong in the past five years have caused everyone to scatter everywhere. In the process, I believe many people are also reflecting on their relationship with the world. Hong Kong people can rely on their own experience to respond to what is happening in the world, and so-called Hong Kong publishing may also be liberated from the city and regional levels. //

When everyone reflects on their relationship with the world, I believe that Hong Kong’s cultural community will become more and more powerful.
