We’re excited to reveal that The Secret of Me has won the Out in the Silence Award at !

Through the story of Jim Ambrose, who didn’t know he was born intersex until he looked into his medical history in college, the film exposes the truth about the harms caused by a bogus and bigoted medical study that lead to the normalization of a systemic practice which forced gender designations onto thousands of intersex children.

According to festival “The Secret of Me never sensationalises its participants — instead, it’s defined by exquisite vulnerability and righteous resilience.”

The Out in the Silence Award honours an outstanding film project that highlights brave acts of visibility — especially in places where such acts are rare and unexpected.
