Tribute:
Muhammadu Buhari served as President of Nigeria, and opinions about his presidency vary. Some people believe he made progress in certain areas, while others feel that challenges persisted during his administration.
The real benefactors of his primitive lopsided leadership or the supporters of his presidency believed he made progress in key areas, while many others criticized him for perceived nepotism, tribalism, and religious bias, arguing that his policies led to significant hardship and poverty, particularly during his tenure as a civilian president.
There are many good things achieved by him as president, but there are also many negative things that can be attributed to him. Like many other African presidents and leaders, he had the opportunity to modernize our hospitals to international standards with modern medical facilities, but failed to do so. Meanwhile, he had access to quality medical care abroad, where the state could cover all his medical expenses in any country of his choice.
Not just hospitals alone, many things that need to be fixed to make lives easier for Nigerians were left unattended, and the existing ones were not even maintained properly, resulting in their dilapidation.
As someone who understands politics and leadership, I believe he squandered the opportunity to leave a lasting, positive legacy in Nigeria's history. Perhaps his reliance on sycophants and the expectations of his loyal supporters clouded his judgment and prevented him from making the most of his time in office.
Many of our leaders will die in foreign countries, not because they can't afford to build standard hospitals in Nigeria, but because of corruption and incompetence or primitive leadership styles; they will never get to do the right thing. Most politicians have one or two foreign doctors in foreign lands, but funny enough, no European or American politicians have ever come for a check-up in Africa. They can't even come to Nigeria or Africa for a medical checkup. This is pure evil and shouldn't be tolerated by any sane nation.
To our leaders, please learn from the death of Muhammadu Buhari. Death truly awaits everyone, but don't live a life that will generate mixed feelings when you're no more. Everyone will die one day, so live a good life where posterity will judge you well. As you lead people, don't behave as if you'll live forever. Nobody will escape death, but let your legacy speak well of you. Don't allow your legacy to be remembered in bad ways. Today, many people are online, and while some advise against mocking the dead, the truth is that many people died under Buhari's leadership due to his negligence, and the victims' families have not forgotten the traumatic tragedy that befell them. May your legacy be used to judge you and mostly may your Allah judge you as you must have wished when you were alive.
Ubuntu Regards;
Tochukwu
