Rise as One, Not as Rivals
Storms don’t choose their victims.
They don’t ask for your precinct number, or check your party list.
They don’t care if you shout “change is coming” or “never again.”
They sweep away tricycles and SUVs alike.
They topple nipa huts and gated mansions, with equal force.
But our politics? It still divides.
It points fingers instead of joining hands.
It drowns us in excuses while the waters drown our people.
Congress turns calamity into another stage play.
Hearings turn into shouting matches,
and the names of those who profit from disaster
remain absent from the script.
They stay dry, untouchable, while the rest of us tread water.
We keep forgetting:
typhoons, blackouts, hunger, inflation—
they are not partisan.
They don’t wear red or yellow or pink.
It’s only us who stubbornly keep marching under banners instead of one flag.
If you plan to rally,
whether in Luneta or EDSA —
leave your colors behind.
Leave your loyalty to personalities at the door.
Carry only your loyalty to the Filipino.
Because this is not about tribes.
It’s about farmers waiting for aid that never comes.
It’s about nurses leaving for jobs abroad because hospitals back home are crumbling.
It’s about jeepney drivers stranded by both floods and unfair policies.
It’s about parents who wonder if their children will inherit anything other than debt and disaster.
So go where you can.
Stand beside strangers, not as rivals but as kin.
Sing, shout, pray, demand—
but do it together.
Because injustice is not partisan.
Because accountability is not partisan.
Because hope is not partisan.
Let the greedy tremble.
Let the powerful be exposed.
Let the Filipino rise—not as factions,
but as a nation unbreakable.

The number of Filipinos living, working and studying in Italy today is estimated to be over 200,000. The community is quite likely the best accepted and most beloved foreign community in the country, because of the hard work, reliability and competence of all Filipinos who work hard in the field of domestic labor as ‘colf’ (domestic helpers) and who have grown so close to the hearts of Italian families.
After decades of Filipino migration to Italy, the language barrier remains the primary problem for first generation Filipinos as well as for their family members and migrants who arrived recently in the country. The absence of an effective communication hampers social inclusion and integration.
Thus, through information, news and guides in Tagalog language, Ako ay Pilipino, has become the social, legal and cultural point of reference supporting Filipino migrants in their quest for a better life in Italy.
We connect all Filipinos who have taken up the challenge of emigration and provide a forum where they can express themselves, build communities, develop a sense of pride and belonging, achieve representation and enter constructive dialogue with the host community.
We provide grounds for personal, social, political and economic empowerment, help give access to legal protection, advocate for migrant rights and campaign against prejudice and discrimination.
We help newcomers understand what is happening around them, understand their new country and its cultural codes, overcome cultural and linguistic barriers, encourage societal conversation, challenge deceptive representations and facilitate reciprocal understanding and integration into the host society.
