A teenage boy has been arrested following a series of incidents which left a man with serious injuries.
At around 10.15AM today, Thursday 10 July, Humberside Police were called to reports of a man armed with a machete and accompanied by a group of other men at a yard on Welholme Road in Grimsby.
Two men believed to be involved were seen leaving the scene in a BMW, which subsequently crashed into a wall on the same street. Both fled the vehicle on foot towards Peaks Parkway.
Later, at around 1.15PM, officers were called to Heneage Road after reports that a group of men had exited an Audi and assaulted a 56-year-old man, leaving him with serious head injuries.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incidents and remains in police custody.
A section of Heneage Road between Granville Street and Welholme Road remains closed while an investigation takes place.
Sergeant Paul Scaman said:
“We understand incidents like this can be unsettling for residents, and I’d like to reassure the community that our officers are conducting extensive enquiries. This includes speaking to witnesses, reviewing CCTV, and working to understand the full circumstances of both incidents.
“At this stage, the individuals involved are believed to be known to each other, and the investigation remains in its early stages.
”We continue to urge anyone with information, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage from either Welholme Road or Heneage Road at the time, to come forward.”
A Humberside Police spokesperson said: “Anyone with information is asked to contact us via the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 235 of 10 July or crime reference 25*95548. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111.”
