Sold out everywhere, Futurismo present a new limited pressing of DEVO’s highly celebrated ART DEVO 1973-1977, available this time as an audiophile pressing of pure black ‘Audio Viz’ vinyl 3xLP. Also available is a new small pressing of the 2xCD digipak version.

ART DEVO showcases the mesmerizing evolution of a band on the brink of discovery, mining irony, wit and dark humour from the madness of a distorted modern world still coming to terms with aftermath of a collapsed economy and the Vietnam war. From 1973-1977 Devo would transform from an art project, pop art in the literal sense, into the group David Bowie would declare “the band of the future”. Here you will find the audio mutations of a bands o the edge of greatness, initial concepts that gave birth to a new aesthetic that continually challenged preconceptions about music, art, performance, culture, composition and consumption...it was also the birth of Booji Boy. While the songs here may not be fully grown, raw even, these are the seeds of subversion that kickstarted Devo’s fifty year legacy.

This 3xLP version is housed in a gloss laminated wide spined sleeve, and comes on limited edition ‘Audio Viz’ vinyl (All pure black disks), it has a tracklist that has been curated by the band, and contains a fold-out poster containing rare imagery and liner notes by Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald V Casale. A 2xCD Digipak version is also available for a limited time.

Still available. CHROME Red Exposure LP and CD. Arguably considered the San Francisco bands greatest work, Red Exposure was the definitive version of Chrome’s idiosyncratic approach to sound: a projected vision of near future dystopia via an undefinable guise of experimental space rock and punk-tinged alien soundscapes. Here, the band simultaneously draw from the otherworldly noises of their past records, whilst pushing their synthesizers forward into, albeit oblique, pop song structures.

Red Exposure seemed to envision a deconstruction of rock ‘n’ roll, aimed to break past the shell of cliché that it would of course eventually come to inhabit, all of which make this disk of new wave nihilism vital for fans of Space rock, Krautrock, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire and Su***de.

The deluxe remastered version of this out of print 1980 LP is still available in a choice of limited Mondo Dance and Inhuman Eye coloured vinyl. It comes packaged in a chromed mirrorboard sleeve, contains a large screenprinted poster printed with neon ink featuring unseen photographs of the band by Dan Wagner, and a bonus track. Still available. UNITS Digital Stimulation LP, containing a bonus CD. The 1980 debut album by San Francisco's THE UNITS (Official) is a revered masterpiece, a dystopic art space vision that helped reshape sound for a new age. Featuring the now classic 'High Pressure Days' this synthpunk collection is a time capsule brought up from the dawn of the digi-age; all metronomical rhythms, wry lines and ice-cold delivery, making it vital for fans of Screamers, Su***de and Devo.

The deluxe remastered version of this out of print 1980 LP is presented here in a choice of ltd edition coloured vinyl, and includes a CD of the album remixed in 2020 by Scott Ryser. The front cover is an exact recreation of the original, and elsewhere the art utilises markings and scribbles from the original 80’s art boards. This limited edition 4xLP set is a sonic fusion of demos, alternate versions and outtakes, and included is ’The Somewhere Suite’ served up on the Mini CD format it was originally intended to be, back in 1989. Recombo DNA is an essential addition to the collection of any science fearing spud, and the perfect sister release to Art Devo.

Each set includes 4xLP’s on limited coloured vinyl in the choice ‘Conscious Mutation’ and ‘Big Mess’ and includes a Mini CD. Futurismo were the first to bring you this on vinyl and now they present unhindered access into Devo’s labs, documenting the scientific analysis and demonstrations as conducted by the band between the years 1977-2008. This tireless research has manifested itself in Recombo DNA…an unmissable collection of studio demos and unreleased rare tracks that span Devo’s entire recording career, from their original basement days to their famed ’Freedom Of Choice’ era, right the way to unused demos from their last studio album. Design details from FUTURISMO Inc.’s release of SURF PUNKS 1982 classic - Locals Only.

Out next week, this is a raucous love letter to beach life in Malibu, a tongue in cheek, culturally observant, fully anarchic slab of new wave punk fun that is not to be missed. Out was the clean-cut 60’s surf culture innocence of The Beach Boys, in was Surf Punks brand of attitude fuelled 80’s surf rock, lampooning everything from lifeguards to valley kids to shark attacks. Surf Punks wild abandon was captured perfectly in Richard Uppers wonderful cover photograph, featuring the band sprawled out on a beach adorned with surf paraphernalia and beer. Originally only used in black and white on the back cover, here it appears on the front in full colour for the very first time…as well as on the fold out poster contained inside.

An essential document of the era, Locals Only is a vibrant amalgamation of new wave, surf rock, pop and SoCal punk all wrapped up in a catchy, obnoxious, irreverent package that could perhaps be considered a rarity, in that it had the musical chops to back it all up.

The remastered version of this long out of print LP comes in limited edition ‘Beach Gunk’ coloured vinyl and contains two bonus tracks.
