I delayed my flight to London by a day to see this remarkable work at — directed by one of the artists I respect most. Experiencing William Kentridge’s this setting made me reflect on prophecy, fate, and the fragility of human agency in our age of data and uncertainty.
As the phrase “Starve the algorithm” echoed in my ears (from this opera) obviously my IG algorithm is NOT hungry - it showed “a photo from nine years ago”

I’ve also screened his opera the Nose, commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera, as a part of the festival — so seeing it LIVE meant everything.

“Starve the algorithm(알고리즘을 굶겨라)”라는 문장이 머릿속을 맴돌던 귀갓길, 갑자기 내 인스타에 뜬 사진 한 장! 9년전 기획했던 직지: 금빛 씨앗(Jikji, The Golden Seed) 전시에서 켄트리지의 Notes Towards a Model Opera 작품 앞에 앉은 나 - 내 #인스타 알고리즘은 계속 배부르네
그의 오페라 The Nose(메트로폴리탄 오페라 위촉작)을 축제 프로그램으로 상영한 적도 있었기에, 이번에 LIVE로 직접 보게 된 건 정말 기뻤다.
