She understood the assignment: never let anyone talk down on you.

Lucy goes for her weekly swimming class from school. She always packs her bag neatly with her body cream, hair cream, hair brush, and everything she needs to freshen up after swimming.

This week, after class, she brought out her hair brush to tidy her hair and some of the kids teased her, saying she was using a toilet brush for her hair.

Without missing a beat, my ever-ready daughter replied, “If you use it for toilet in your house, then it’s a toilet brush for you. But I use it for my hair, so it’s a hair brush for me.”

When she told me this, I was over the moon! I couldn’t stop smiling. I’m so proud to have a daughter who knows her worth and will never let anyone talk down on her. 💖

If I see a stain on the cooker or crumbs on the counter, that’s it I’m up with my sponge and soap. It’s not just about cleaning; it’s about peace of mind.

When the Iron Met Its Match

I thought ironing school uniforms was just another simple weekend task until this one!

Bona has been the one faithfully ironing all their uniforms. Thankfully, during the summer term, Lucy and Victor wore their light summer uniforms, so there wasn’t much to press. But last week marked the end of summer, and over the weekend, they brought out their proper school uniforms which are shirts, ties, and all.

When Bona saw the pile, he sighed deeply and said, “Mummy, honestly, I can’t cope this time.” And truly, who could blame him? Imagine five shirts for Bona, four for Lucy, four for Victor, plus trousers, skirts, and gowns. Emma’s own wasn’t much of a problem since hers are still small.

I told him, “Just start from somewhere.” He asked, “Where should I start?” Before I could answer, Lucy jumped in, grabbed the iron, and began. When she got tired, I took over and did as much as I could. But I must confess, ironing is hard work!

Oh, and did I mention Bona’s blazer was part of the mix too? 🤔

This was me yesterday morning, finally finishing up the ironing, looking at those neat uniforms lined up with a quiet sense of victory. The clothes may be wrinkle free now, but my arms will need a public holiday of their own! 😅👕✨
