Pan-African independent music publisher Amelia Songs recently signed a global partnership with Kobalt Music Publishing. In our interview with Amelia Songs Founder Akinyemi Ayinoluwa mentions that he sees this as a path towards bigger and better opportunities for its roster of songwriters and producers.

The deal gives Amelia Songs access to Kobalt’s infrastructure, administration, sync licensing network and royalty collection teams, and will also enable the publisher to develop and sign more talent from across Africa.

Every streaming service wants to be associated with the global growth of Afrobeats music. ’s latest effort is ‘Afrobeats: Culture in Motion’ – a section of its news site dedicated to the scene and its stats, as well as a short film on YouTube.

The numbers are most interesting to Music Ally, including a chart of the top five countries for growth in Afrobeats listening since 2020. Indonesia tops the list with a 4,530% increase over the last five years, followed by Egypt (2,213%), India (1,650%), the Philippines (1,492%) and Thailand (1,370%). Which country suprised you most?
