Next Friday our resident ROMMEK returns to our frontline at FOLD London.

Based in London, Rommek has played a pivotal role for Natural Selection for the best part of 5 years, playing at many of our events and label nights and also previously releasing for us with his widely acclaimed 4-track physical EP entitled ‘Devil’s Playground’ in 2023, and two of our recent VA compilations.

As well as through our own imprint, Rommek has seen his music released by globally renowned labels such as 47, MORD, ARTS & James Ruskin’s Blueprint Records. As a well-established artist, Rommek has expanded his own sound, carving his way into the current techno and experimental scenes since 2013. His extensive interest in sound design is crafted within the cinematic atmospheres, heavy broken rhythms and electrifying tones found within his productions.

Rommek joined the seminal Blueprint Records in 2016, and to add further to the momentous occasion next Friday, he is reunited on the same lineup with label head James Ruskin - BlueprintRecords , who will be performing live under his collaborative moniker The Fear Ratio with Mark Broom. Joining them is none other than Regis, along with Natural Selection residents Annie Hall and T1_1SK.

We can’t wait to witness the journey Rommek has in store for this extra special occasion next Friday 5th December in FOLD’s Steam Room, which also marks the close of our 15th year since our inception.

On 5th Dec we welcome back The Fear Ratio (James Ruskin - BlueprintRecords & Mark Broom) to FOLD London, performing their infamous live set for the 4th time at Natural Selection and FOLD.

One of only a select few artists signed to , a UK electronica / IDM label of mythical stature born in the early 90’s, The Fear Ratio formed in 2011 as an outlet project of studio sessions for James Ruskin and Mark Broom to combine their passions for Electronica, Hip-Hop and Dub beats beyond the parameters of 4/4 Techno. The duo, who are long-term collaborators have created their own signature style with abstract synths, heavy basslines and experimental soundscapes that fit somewhere in between IDM, Electronica and Techno.

Their acclaimed debut album ‘Lightbox’ was initially released in 2011 on Ruskin’s Blueprint Records, featuring remixes from Warp aficionados Plaid and Deadhand. Soon after they formed their long-lasting relationship with Skam, with the follow-up album in 2015 ‘Refuge of a Twisted Soul’. 2018 saw a four track ‘Live EP’ release made up of exclusive versions of their Autechre supporting slot at the Great Northern Warehouse in Manchester. In addition to further releases on Skam, their latest album “Slinky” was released on Tresor in 2022 which gained huge notoriety worldwide.

It is always an honour to welcome back The Fear Ratio to our frontline, this time in FOLD’s newly fitted Steam Room, with state-of-the-art sound.

On 5th Dec we welcome back .dns to Natural Selection, for what will be his 6th appearance in FOLD’s halls.

Karl O’Connor needs no introduction and is considered one of the finest purveyors of Techno in the world, circulating the scene globally since the early 90’s. Regis is known for propagating other pseudonyms and this has only added to the greater mythology surrounding the influential Downwards label that he has ran with Peter Sutton (Female) since 1993.

Unconventional and single-minded to say the least (what label can boast a back catalogue free of the industry standard cash cow remix ) by decentralising the focus on the dj/producer personality, he remains one of the more highly regarded creative forces within the British techno/electronic scene. Degenerate art indeed.

Karl electrified the main room when he played as Regis for Natural Selection at FOLD in 2019, and again in 2022 performing under his rare, elusive collaborative moniker; O/V/R, with James Ruskin, who will also feature at our night in Dec, performing a live set as The Fear Ratio, his collaborative project with Mark Broom.

It is a massive honour to welcome Karl back to Natural Selection. This time performing for the 1st time in FOLD’s newly fitted, state-of-the-art Steam Room.

We also see the long awaited return of Regis to Natural Selection, after previously joining us for a memorable performance at FOLD in 2022 under his collaborative alias O/V/R with James Ruskin.
