RON CARTER’s 88TH BIRTHDAY! Today is the big day: the day I finally turn 88 years old. I don’t feel much older… though I certainly feel wiser 😉

Mr. Donald Vega on piano and Mr. Donald Harrison on saxophone were kind enough to join me here on stage at Blue Note New York these past few nights. Now, May 4th, my Foursight Quartet shall join me once again for the grand finale. Donald Vega, Jimmy Greene, Payton Crossley, and Yours Truly will see YOU at Blue Note New York at 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM tonight to end my 88th birthday celebration with a bang.

I’ll see you soon, everyone… And May the 4th be with you 😉

Fun was had by one and all at my 88th Birthday Celebration residency at Blue Note New York this past week... I send my sincere thanks to each and every one of you who attended with your well-wishes, as well as to my generous hosts at Blue Note New York.

I also send my appreciation to the musicians who joined me on stage: Renee Rosnes, Jimmy Greene, Payton Crossley, Donald Vega, and Donald Harrison. We felt our dear friend Russell Malone was there in spirit.

Plenty more adventure awaits here on … My 88th birthday has only further encouraged my continued journey in jazz, and my search for THOSE notes shows no signs of stopping.
