New Teacher Pay Strategy Aims to Boost Retention

The UK government is considering a multi-year pay deal for teachers to improve staff retention and ease budget pressures in schools.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has asked the School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB). to propose teacher pay awards for 2026–27 and 2027–28, with an outline for 2028–29. The aim is to help schools plan ahead amid ongoing recruitment challenges.
