DANAïDS: The Big Greekender
Coinciding with the summer solstice, Aeschylus' lost Danaïds tetralogy was performed at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury, following the success of previous stagings of Suppliant Women and Sons of Aegyptos.
Choruses from Athens, London South Bank University, and a local community chorus from Canterbury came together in workshop rehearsals to help stage the four plays, with creatives Ramin Gray, John Brown, David Greig, and Sasha Milavic Davies.
The performance of the tetralogy was followed by a Symposium chaired by Professor David Wiles and a special performance of Euripides’ Orestes by Oxford Ancient Languages Society in the original Ancient Greek.
Thank you to all who took part in the productions and attended the performances!
