A very important step forward in the fight for the change in the way the songwriting community is treated by Record Labels and the Music Industry.
This is only the start though- while I commend everyone who has used their voice for positive change, but don’t let any self-serving PR or political agendas distract you from the fact there is much work to be done. Please don’t be distracted by the nominal fee of £75 plus expenses as a substitute for what should also include an equitable share of the master royalty that the songwriter so vitally contributes towards.
Without the song there is no “Master Recording”. Without the song there is no content. Without the song there is no marketing campaign. Without the song there is no “hit”.
Vocal Producers, Mix Engineers, A&Rs and everyone else claiming master royalties while songwriters look on in disappointment is not acceptable.
Thanks to all for all the important work you do for the UK creative community. Well done for using the platform shes earned to highlight this issues significance, many others have been too scared to take on the Industry.
