What happens when a piano becomes an ecosystem under pressure?

Composer and pianist Teodor Doré placed fragments of debris and waste inside a grand piano and let the instrument speak.

Flow Interrupted is a prepared piano performance exploring water, pollution and belonging. Objects placed inside the piano distort its natural resonance, turning familiar sound into something unstable, evolving, and quietly devastating.

Performed live at the Roca London Gallery — designed by Zaha Hadid Architects this is music that asks hard questions about what we’ve done to the natural world, and where we still belong within it.

Teodor Doré has performed at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Musikverein. His next major work receives its world premiere at Carnegie Hall on 12 November 2026.

Teodor Doré is a London-based concert pianist, composer, and cultural entrepreneur, and founder of Renaissance-21 — originally born in Crimea. He’s widely known for his genre-crossing classical compositions and his work reviving historical manuscripts, most notably orchestrating Sergei Rachmaninoff’s previously lost Suite in D Minor.

Tomás Doncker’s live EP ‘Alive In Paris’ is out today (July 24th) on True Groove Records. Recorded at New Morning in Paris while on tour with Fun Lovin’ Criminals, it’s Doncker and The True Groove All Stars caught in the room, in the moment.

NYC-born, UK-based, Doncker came up in the early 80s with The Contortions and Defunkt, and has spent four decades working with Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, The Specials, Patti Smith. The live record reflects where all of it lands.

BTS from the Tomás Doncker and True Groove session, and this one was special.

There’s something about watching musicians this good in the prep phase. Unhurried. Already in it before a note gets played.

Doncker’s been at this since the early 80s — The Contortions, Defunkt, Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Patti Smith. The True Groove All Stars carry that same weight. This session does too.

Recorded live at New Morning while touring with Fun Lovin’ Criminals, it catches Doncker and The True Groove All Stars doing what they do best: raw, spontaneous, ridiculously well played.

Doncker’s been at this since the early 80s — No Wave and Punk-Funk roots with The Contortions and Defunkt, then decades collaborating with the likes of Bootsy Collins, Meshell Ndegeocello, Ivan Neville, The Specials and Patti Smith. Genre-hopping cross-pollinator, still going strong.

The Isle of CC is the project of Serena Robb — alt-soul and neo-soul artist out of Milton Keynes, with an atmospheric, electronic-infused R&B sound and some seriously distinctive vocal harmonies. Beyond the music, she’s a music journalist, events curator, and director at Wordplay Magazine. Proper multi-hyphenate.

Up next on VERSION: The Isle Of CC

Milton Keynes artist The Isle of CC drops hate2say, another one from a busy 2026.

It started as a post-lockdown idea, got reworked, and came out uptempo and sharp. Old school hip hop bounce, R&B vocals, electronic production from OskaZaky of 3lijah. The target is online commentary: opinions on gender fluidity, on self-image, on how someone chooses to present themselves. The track doesn’t argue back. It dances instead.

Previous releases landed BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Somewhere Soul, Wordplay Magazine, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, and radio stations across the UK, US, Australia and Europe.
