🌊 اكتشاف أعمق هيدرات غاز على سطح الأرض… مليئة بالحياة البحرية!

أعلن فريق علمي من جامعة القطب الشمالي في النرويج وشركائها عن اكتشاف أعمق مواضع هيدرات غاز طبيعي على قاع البحر قبالة الساحل الغربي لجرينلاند، على عمق يصل إلى نحو 3640 متراً تحت سطح الماء.

الهيدرات الغازية هي تركيبات بلورية من الميثان والماء تتكوّن في بيئات ذات ضغط عالٍ وحرارة منخفضة، وقد وجدت حولها حياة بحرية غنية في هذه الأعماق المظلمة.

قام العلماء باستخدام مركبة تعمل عن بُعد (ROV) بجمع عينات من الهيدرات والميثان والنفط والمحيط الحيوي المحيط، وكشفوا تنوعاً واسعاً من الكائنات البحرية التي تعتمد على الميكروبات الكيميائية كمصدر غذائي.

تشمل الكائنات المكتشفة قشريات، ديدان أنبوبية، رخويات، وأشباه القشريات، ما يؤكد وجود نظام بيئي متكامل في إحدى أعمق مناطق المحيط القطبي.

هذا الاكتشاف لا يغيّر فقط فهمنا لـ التنوع البيولوجي في أعماق البحار، بل يفتح آفاقاً جديدة لفهم دور هذه الأنظمة في دورة الكربون والمناخ العالمي.

🌊 Deepest Gas Hydrate Ever Found Off Greenland Teeming with Life

A scientific team led by UiT The Arctic University of Norway and partners has discovered what may be the deepest known gas hydrate seep on record, located about 3,640 meters beneath the Greenland Sea’s surface.

These crystalline hydrates, composed of methane and water, were found supporting an unexpectedly rich community of marine life in total darkness under extreme pressure and cold.

Using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), researchers collected samples of methane, crude oil, and sediments teeming with biodiversity fueled by chemosynthetic microbes.

Discoveries include tubeworms, shrimp-like crustaceans, bristle worms, and bivalves — species that thrive by converting chemical energy rather than sunlight.

This breakthrough expands our understanding of deep-sea ecosystems, carbon cycling, and Arctic biodiversity, suggesting more hidden habitats may await discovery

في عمق المحيط الهادئ، حيث لا يُسمع إلا صوت الأوكسجين، كانت إيميلي إيلين جومو تخوض معركة مزدوجة: مع تحديات الغوص العسكري القاسية، ومع التوقعات المجتمعية. لم يكن الهدف هو الغوص فحسب، بل كتابة التاريخ. أصبحت إيميلي أول امرأة أمريكية من أصل أفريقي ترتدي خوذة غواص البحرية الأمريكية، وهي خطوة لم تقتصر على كسر حاجز اللون والجنس، بل تطلبت شجاعة خارقة لتجاوز أصعب التدريبات في العالم. قيل لها إنها لن تنجح، وأن هذا المجال ليس لها، لكنها أثبتت أن الأعماق لا تعترف إلا بالقوة والالتزام الراسخ.

🔥 حريق على سفينة غوص في المالديف ونجاة الغواصين والطاقم

تعرضت سفينة الغوص ياساوا برينسيس التابعة لـ Deep Blue Dive Centres في جزر المالديف لحادث حريق مساء 24 ديسمبر (ليلة عيد الميلاد) على بعد نحو 5 كم من جزيرة Kudaanbara في Atoll Vaavu.

باشرت فرق الطوارئ الحريق، وتم تفعيل بروتوكولات السلامة الفورية من قبل الطاقم، مما أسفر عن إخلاء آمن لجميع الضيوف والطاقم البالغ عددهم 25 شخصاً من دون إصابات.

سُجل الحريق عند حوالي الساعة 6 مساءً، وأفادت الجهات المختصة بإشراك قوات الدفاع المالديفية وخدمات الإطفاء والشرطة في الاستجابة السريعة للواقعة.

رغم جهود الإطفاء، تبيّن أن السفينة تعرضت لأضرار كبيرة ولا يمكن تشغيلها في الموسم الجاري، وتستمر التحقيقات للكشف عن أسباب الحريق.

تُعد هذه الحادثة تذكيراً بأهمية إجراءات السلامة البحرية وتدريب الطواقم على الاستجابة السريعة في حالات الطوارئ.

🔥 Divers and Crew Escape Blaze Aboard Maldives Liveaboard

On Christmas Eve, the dive liveaboard Yasawa Princess, operated by Deep Blue Dive Centres, was struck by a major fire roughly 5 km off Kudaanbara Island in Vaavu Atoll, Maldives.

The blaze broke out around 6:00 pm on 24 December, prompting the vessel’s crew to implement emergency and fire-safety procedures immediately.

All 25 guests and crew onboard were safely evacuated without injuries, thanks to rapid action and coordinated response efforts.

The Maldives National Defence Force, Fire & Rescue Services, and Police assisted at the scene, but the damage to the ship was extensive.

Officials confirmed that the vessel will be out of service for the current season, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

🌊 اكتشاف مفترس جديد في أعماق خندق أتاكاما

كشف فريق من العلماء في مؤسستي Woods Hole Oceanographic وInstituto Milenio de Oceanografía عن نوع جديد من القشريات المفترسة في أعماق خندق أتاكاما في المحيط الهادئ، عند نحو 7,900 متر تحت السطح، حيث الظروف قاسية من ضغط وظلام وانعدام الضوء.

النوع الجديد المُسمّى Dulcibella camanchaca هو أول أمفيبود كبير ونشط مفترس يتم اكتشافه في تلك الأعماق، ويستخدم أطرافًا متخصّصة لاصطياد الفرائس الأصغر.

هذا الكائن يبلغ نحو 4 سنتيمترات طولاً ويعدّ نموذجًا فريدًا على كيفية تكيف الحياة مع الظروف القصوى في قاع المحيط.

البيانات الوراثية والمورفولوجية أظهرت أن هذا الاكتشاف لا يمثل نوعًا جديدًا فحسب، بل جنسًا جديدًا أيضًا، مما يجعل خندق أتاكاما منطقة ذات قيمة بيولوجية عالية.

🌊 New Deep-Sea Predator Discovered in the Atacama Trench

Scientists from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Chile’s Instituto Milenio de Oceanografía have discovered a new predatory crustacean deep within the Atacama Trench, nearly 7,900 meters below the ocean surface where crushing pressure and complete darkness prevail.

The species, named Dulcibella camanchaca, is the first large, active predatory amphipod found at such hadal depths, using specialized appendages to hunt smaller crustaceans.

Measuring about 4 centimeters, this shrimp-like predator illustrates how life adapts to extreme environments where few organisms survive.

Genetic and morphological evidence indicates that this discovery represents not only a new species but also a new genus, highlighting the Atacama Trench as a distinct hotspot of deep-sea biodiversity.

The finding underscores the importance of ongoing deep-ocean exploration to uncover Earth’s hidden ecosystems and broaden our understanding of life under extreme conditions.
