Choosing the right partner is undoubtedly one of the finest gifts a man can receive for marriage can either elevate or unravel a life. When sungura sensation Peter Moyo declared his intention to marry his then USA-based fiancée, Caroline Rutendo Makamache, after just one brief encounter, many raised an eyebrow. Skeptics questioned the logic of such a swift decision, especially given the typical concerns surrounding long-distance romances. With Peter’s celebrity status and his interactions with an array of stunning women, naysayers predicted a tumultuous union, one that seemed destined for disaster.
Yet, years after their traditional wedding, the couple has moved in together in Harare and proven the doubters wrong. Their love story is blossoming into a beautiful testament of harmony and devotion. Caroline has vowed her unwavering love and commitment to Peter, embracing not just him but his diverse family, including siblings from different mothers like the real Queen of her husband's family. She defies expectations by being the quintessential wife, frequently visiting their family home in Kwekwe and the ancestral grounds in Sesombe, Gokwe, where the departed legendary sungura icon, Tongai Moyo Dewa, was interred. Her affection extends to Peter’s grandmother, Gogo Chihera, further solidifying her place within the family.
Caroline has even launched a movement celebrating marriage under the banner “My Husband This, My Husband That,” exemplifying her dedication to their union and regard for marriage in general. If this is the essence of true partnership, then everyone should aspire to marry and live the dream. Maybe love at first sight works after all.
To top it all off, their love is working wonders for Peter’s music career, which is on an upward trajectory. He recently released a stellar album and shone brightly at the Phalaphala Music Festival in South Africa, sharing the stage with other prominent names in music.
