Police assistant public relations officer Godfrey Chilabi said the incident happened on Wednesday last week at around 09:00 hours, at Jifumpa Primary School Teachers’ Compound.

Chilabi stated that the slain child was a daughter of a 30 year old teacher, Bornface Mutumbwe and she was struck in the head by a stray bullet while standing in a grass thatched shelter.

He revealed that the little girl was rushed to Jifumpa Rural Health Centre and later referred to Mukinge Mission Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

And North Western Province police commissioner Brighton Siwale said preliminary investigations also revealed that the suspects identified as 44 year old Zheng Chencheng, armed with a 9mm Ta**us pistol and 48 year old Wan Rong Gen, with a .45mm Sig Sauer P320 were reportedly testing their fi****ms at the Ruida Investment mine site, about 100 metres from the school, when one of the bullets hit the child.

“On the material day, the two suspects were testing their fi****ms, a 9mm Ta**us pistol and a .45mm Sig Sauer P320 and shooting in the southern direction, which faces the school,” said Siwale.

“In the process, a bullet struck the victim on the head while she was standing in a grass-thatched shelter in the teachers’ compound.”

Siwale said the deceased sustained a severe gunshot wound, with the projectile entering on the left side of her head and exiting on the right.

“The bullet was recovered at the scene after it fell to the ground following exit,” he explained.

Witnesses said the child collapsed instantly and she was rushed to Jifumpa Rural Health Centre and later referred to Mukinge Mission Hospital, but she died en route around 11:50 hours in Mbulumuneni area.

Police in Nakonde have arrested a 23-year-old man of Katozi village for being in possession of K20,000 counterfeit notes.

Muchinga Province police commanding officer Dennis Moola identified the suspect as Langford Simutowe, who was apprehended after he attempted to deposit the said counterfeit notes at a mobile money booth.

Mr Moola said the incident happened on Friday August 8, 2025, around 16:40 hours, in Katozi village and was reported to Nakonde Police Station by Nelson Manda around 17:20 hours on the same day.

“The suspect, Langford Simutowe, 23, of Katozi village, was found in possession of 100 K200 counterfeit notes amounting to K20,000,” Mr Moola said.

He said on Friday August 8, 2025, Nelson Manda, who owns a mobile money agent booth at Katozi market, was going about his business when he was approached by Simutowe, who wanted to deposit K20,000 cash.

Mr Moola said Mr Manda requested to be given the money first before he could process the transaction and that upon receiving the cash, he observed that it was counterfeit.

“So he came out of his booth and apprehended the suspect,” Mr Moola said.

He said Mr Manda took Simutowe to Nakonde Police Post and reported the matter. Mr Moola said police officers acted on the report and received the said counterfeit notes.

THE FAKE UPND PROPAGANDA ABOUT DR. EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU IN SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦

UPND insider EĂ—poses the real truth :

🔥 UPND’s $50M Dru*g Deal Lie 🔥
Missing Judge • Secret Morgue Meetings • Cash Handovers (Minister Kubayi & DPP Shamila Batohi) They Won’t Tell Zambians About!

The claim by UPND’s M23 that he was sho*t five times over a $50 million dru*g deal is a blatant lie.

Long before his dea*th, UPND propaganda was alleging he was in South Africa sourcing campaign funds for 2026 from Ndambo and Dangote, and that the family wanted to repatriate the body privately to bring in millions of dollars.

❓ Why can’t they talk about how the second judge was missing from the panel?
❓ Why can’t they explain what Chabinga, Seer 1, and Mukuni’s entourage were doing at 2 Mountains Morgue?
❓ Why can’t they tell Zambians about the cash Kabesha carried and gave to the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, and to the Director of Public Prosecutions of South Africa, Advocate Shamila Batohi?

The fact that not all Zambians are speaking does not mean we are dull.

The dru*g story is pure fabrication—if he had died in Zambia, UPND would have played their usual tricks.

Now they talk of “public interest” in a man they denied medical care, insulted in life, and mocked in death.

Hands off—let him rest in peace.
Focus on fixing high prices and the suffering of Zambians!

Our Presidua on the Agriculture and Commercial Show

Dear Showgoers, Exhibitors and fellow Citizens,

Welcome to the 2025 Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show, held under the theme: "Adapting To Climate Change." This timely theme echoes the reality of our experience last year, when Zambia faced its worst drought in over a century, an event that shifted the trajectory of our national development.

The severe drought tested our food and energy security. Yet in the midst of adversity, our nation found clarity: that resilience, solidarity, and innovation can turn a crisis into a catalyst for progress. We are reminded that Zambia is endowed with abundant water bodies, among the richest in southern africa. These natural resources hold the power to transform our agriculture from a seasonal maize-dependent culture to a diverse, irrigation-driven, year-round system, enabled by effective water harvesting techniques.

We have also learnt that while hydropower is a clean source of energy, over-reliance on it in the era of climate volatility is no longer sustainable. It is therefore encouraging to see the emergence of alternative energy sources, particularly solar and clean coal, to secure our energy future. This is deliberate and intentional.

We salute our farmers, the unsung heroes, who, in the face of baking fields and wilted crops, stood firm. From the scars of drought to a bumper harvest of approximately 4 million tonnes of maize this year, their story is not just one of success, it is a miracle wrought through grit, sacrifice, and an unbreakable spirit.

Our modernised e-voucher system was central to this success. During the 2024/25 season, it ensured that 99% of farmers received inputs before the onset of rains. This efficiency, transparency, and timeliness have set a new standard in agricultural support delivery. We further applaud the strategic clean-up of the farmer input support programme (FISP), which saw the removal of over 210,000 ineligible individuals.
