Congratulations to Quirky Bird Theatre Macready Theatre and the performing arts team of Rugby School for delivering such a successful live production of DNA to thousands of schoolchildren across the UK.
The FlyOnTheWall team were extremely proud to have been able to play a role (see what we did there!) in this wonderful event.
The video-on-demand will continue to be enjoyed for the rest of the week so hopefully many more will benefit and this will help create more opportunities to get live performances out there.
Sitting here watching our DNA live ON MY TELLYBOX...!!!
Mind blown.
My massive thanks go to Maddy Herbert, Harry Freeman, Rob Bradshaw, Mia Hann, Ryan Carroll, Amy Jane Baker, Ollie Painter, Sophie Thorne, Dillon Berry, Ella Mae Bryant, Yazmin Priestner-Burton, Doug Kirby, Shaun Skinner alongside Tim Coker and Kyle Arrowsmith from The Macready Theatre at Rugby School and the entire team at Fly on the Wall streaming services.
This has been the most amazing and logistically challenging performance I have ever had to mastermind. To say that COVID has changed the nature of this project is a huge understatement. From organising an army of understudies, increasing our transport requirements to enable space, rigorous procedures for set and costume items, replacing 3 actors in the final few days, mask wearing, hand gelling like ninjas and finally the Quirky Bird Van breaking down as we set off (not COVID related but I mean....come on!!)
So, yes, it's been stressful
AND TOTALLY WORTH IT.
The joy at being able to perform was evident and to know that students across the UK and Internationally will benefit from being able to watch this live is AMAZING!
So, Hurrah for perseverance. Hurrah for the arts. Screw you COVID.
ART IS WORK.
