On a Day Like Today ~ July 6, 2010 🇬🇧🇺🇳🗽
HM Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, made a historic address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. This marked only the second time Queen Elizabeth II spoke at the UN — her first address was back in 1957. Her speech emphasized global cooperation, peace, and the importance of united efforts to address world challenges. 🌍🤝
Following the assembly, the Royal couple visited the site of the World Trade Center, where HM laid a solemn wreath in memory of the lives lost during the tragic September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Queen’s visit offered a moment of reflection and respect for the victims and their families. 🕯️🇺🇸
HM Queen Elizabeth II also dedicated the British Memorial Garden at Hanover Square, New York City, honoring the 67 British citizens who died in the attacks. The garden stands as a lasting tribute to their memory, symbolizing resilience and the enduring bonds between the United Kingdom and the United States. 🌹🇬🇧🇺🇸
