On a Day Like Today ~ July 6, 2010 🇬🇧🇺🇳🗽

HM Queen Elizabeth II, accompanied by HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, made a historic address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York City. This marked only the second time Queen Elizabeth II spoke at the UN — her first address was back in 1957. Her speech emphasized global cooperation, peace, and the importance of united efforts to address world challenges. 🌍🤝

Following the assembly, the Royal couple visited the site of the World Trade Center, where HM laid a solemn wreath in memory of the lives lost during the tragic September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Queen’s visit offered a moment of reflection and respect for the victims and their families. 🕯️🇺🇸

HM Queen Elizabeth II also dedicated the British Memorial Garden at Hanover Square, New York City, honoring the 67 British citizens who died in the attacks. The garden stands as a lasting tribute to their memory, symbolizing resilience and the enduring bonds between the United Kingdom and the United States. 🌹🇬🇧🇺🇸

On a Day Like Today ~ July 6, 2011 🇨🇦❤️🔥

TRHs The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge — now known as TRHs The Prince and Princess of Wales — visited the town of Slave Lake in northern Alberta, Canada, during their royal tour of the country. Just two months earlier, the community had been devastated by wildfires that destroyed nearly one-third of the town, including hundreds of homes and businesses.

With compassion and genuine warmth, the royal couple met with residents, local business owners, and first responders who had bravely fought the fires and supported recovery efforts. They toured the heavily affected areas, listened to personal stories of loss and resilience, and offered encouragement and solidarity on behalf of the Crown. 🌲🔥👑

Their visit was seen as a powerful gesture of support, bringing hope to many during a time of immense recovery. The people of Slave Lake later recalled the Royal couple’s visit as deeply touching — an uplifting moment amid the hardship. 🇨🇦🤍

On a Day Like Today ~ July 6, 2019 👶👑💦

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, now known as HRH Prince Archie of Sussex, was christened in a private ceremony at Windsor Castle. The intimate service took place in the Private Chapel and was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. Only close family and friends were in attendance, and the occasion was marked by an official family photograph released by the Royal Household. 📸✨

Archie was born on May 6, 2019, at the Portland Hospital in London. He is the first child and eldest son of HRH Prince Henry (Harry), The Duke of Sussex, and HRH Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, née Meghan Markle. He is a grandson of HM King Charles III and is currently 6th in the line of succession to the British throne.

Though entitled at birth to use the courtesy title Earl of Dumbarton, his parents chose not to use a title for him at the time. Under the 1917 Letters Patent issued by HM King George V, Archie was not born a prince because he was a great-grandchild of the monarch through the male line. However, when his grandfather King Charles III ascended the throne in September 2022, Archie became eligible for a princely title.

Beginning in early 2023, his parents began publicly referring to him by his formal style:
HRH Prince Archie of Sussex — using his father’s dukedom as his territorial designation. 🇬🇧✨

Today, Prince Archie lives in Montecito, California, with his parents and younger sister, Princess Lilibet Diana. He is also heir apparent to his father’s Dukedom of Sussex, Earldom of Dumbarton, and Barony of Kilkeel.

She connected with firefighters, staff from Great Western Hospital, and paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service.

During her visit, Queen Camilla learned firsthand how fire and medical teams had adapted their roles to continue serving the community and ease the burden on other services during this challenging time. Her dedication highlighted the resilience and commitment of essential workers in the face of unprecedented pressures. 🙌🔥🩺

Following this, she visited Swindon Borough Council where she spoke with staff, volunteers, and residents about how they had managed and supported each other throughout the pandemic. One of the most touching moments was when she packed the hub’s 1,000th food parcel, which was sent to a vulnerable resident with no family support, emphasizing the importance of community care and compassion. 🥫❤️

Her visit showcased the vital collaboration between emergency services, healthcare, and community efforts during the global crisis, inspiring hope and gratitude.
