The trailer for the new Sylvester Stallone produced boxing biopic on the life of Prince Naseem Hamed has been released, featuring Pierce Brosnan as his legendary coach Brendan Ingle.

follows the story of the Sheffield born and raised fighter, played by Amir El-Nasry, who lit up the boxing world in the 90s with his electric boxing style, theatric ring walks, and trademark leopard print shorts. Although he had a short lived career, he is still widely considered one of the best British boxers of all time.

Similarly, Brendan Ingle was a maverick coach that has trained a number of world champions from his world famous Ingle Gym in Sheffield.

If it can capture any of the Prince Naz charm it should be a great watch.

Daniel Dubois’ coach Don Charles has defended the party held just hours before he lost an undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk, claiming it was a gathering and that they had used the same tactics to hype him up before his win against Anthony Joshua.

Charles, who is widely considered a huge factor in turning round Dubois’ career after a few damaging losses, said: “It was more like a gathering, a cultural gathering. In fact it was the same [sort of] gathering that was done back in September last year when Daniel was going to fight Anthony Joshua on the fight day. The same thing occurred where a lot was made of the ring walk. He came in at Wembley like a gladiator, he was charged up.”

The rematch to the biggest British fight of the year is looking incredibly unlikely, with the news that The Ring are pulling out of promoting the fight, and Conor Benn seemingly resigned to it not taking place in another swipe at his opponent Chris Eubank Jr.

Benn said: “This rematch falling apart had nothing to do with me, I was ready to go on the scheduled September 20 date. I’m not sure what happened to Chris Eubank.”

Eubank has yet to comment but didn’t seem too keen on the rematch, especially after the brutal weight cut and rehydration clause of the first fight.

Tony Ferguson’s career continues to surprise and disappoint with the latest announcement that he is to move into Misfits boxing and fight Salt Papi for the interim MFB middleweight title in August.

Ferguson, already on an eight fight losing streak, is to fight the YouTuber turned Misfits boxer on August 30th, on the same card as Darren Till and Luke Rockhold, who face off in a far more respectable bout.

Surely if Tony loses this one he has to finally call it a day?

Hamzah Sheeraz has been accused of fighting with tampered hand wraps by Edgar Berlanga’s wife, Genesis Calderon. Calderon took to Instagram to voice her concerns over the look of the wraps used by the British super-middleweight, despite openly admitting that the wraps were signed off by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) before and after the fight in her rant.

She said: “I am proud of Edgar, but as his wife, I sat ringside with tears in my eyes — not from the loss, but from what felt unfair.”

No enquiry has yet been made into anything to do with Sheeraz’s stunning victory in New York, and we doubt there will be on this basis.
