Sleeve Notes presents 150 fan-made inner record sleeves, dating between 1950 and 2000 and collected by Crazy Beat Records – a local second-hand music store in Essex.
Celebrating the passion and creativity of music lovers, the collection foregrounds historic fans’ dedication to physical media. Preserving a pre-internet era of devotion, the meticulous tributes of Sleeve Notes recall a time when music ownership was sealed with a fan’s own handiwork.
Sleeve Notes features sleeves photographed by artist and documentarian Dominique Russell, alongside a foreword by her father Kevan Russell of Crazy Beat Records and the collection’s originator.
