The Frontline Club

The Frontline Club FRONTLINE CLUB | CHAMPIONING INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM Frontline Club is a gathering place for journalists, media & their friends.

Founded by Vaughan Smith from his 90s news agency “Frontline Television News”, it was created to support freelance journalism and champion the safety of those who did this as their life’s work. We are a members club, with a public restaurant on the ground floor with private dining and busy events space on the top floor with interesting weekly events that are open to anyone. The club’s very mission

is to champion independent journalism and stimulate public discussion of current affairs. As the foreign news industry’s watering hole, we are informal, edgy and relevant. Norfolk place our newly-refurbished public Restaurant (75 cover) delivers casual fine dining, using local meat and ethically sourced produce. Instead of chasing you down the street with a bucket, we fundraise by selling food and drink, event ticket sales & member bedroom hires & of course by the recruitment of membership that enrich our ever growing community, that as we say in the Club, helps us keep fighting the good fight!

Wed, 19 Nov 2025, 19:00 The corrosive impact of unrestrained spending on democracy is increasingly apparent all over the world, and the Labour government has committed to shoring up Britain's defences and attempting to prevent Westminster from being captured by plutocrats. But are its proposals up to the job? What else should the government be doing? How can we persuade it to do more?

On this final instalment of Kleptoscope 2025, Oliver Bullough is joined by three crucial voices in this space. Susan Hawley is head of Spotlight on Corruption, and co-chair of the UK Anti-Corruption Coalition. Jessica Garland is director of policy and research at the Electoral Reform Society. Liam Byrne is the Labour MP for Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North and author of, among other books, The Inequality of Wealth.

19.00 Thursday 13th Nov 2025 Ukraine At War: Addressing the country’s mental health crisis and exploring scalable responses to PTSD/Trauma. **TICKETS https://bit.ly/47AIUSB ** this is a third party event
As the war in Ukraine grinds on month by month, the country faces an inexorable mental health crisis. Members of the armed forces and veterans of the conflict struggle with PTSD and related conditions.

The broader population is suffering too - from the effects of the continued bombardment, the loss of their loved ones or the fear for their safety, family separation and displacement, as well as anxiety and depression caused by the impact of living in a country at war.

The evening is hosted by Medaid who has brought together a team of panellists to focus on scalable responses to PTSD and other mental health trauma. The team includes Professor Walter Busuttil, former Medical Director and Director of Research at Combat Stress, and Father Vitaliy Novak, the former head of De Paul in Ukraine who is currently serving in the Ukrainian military and has particular experience of the mental health challenges facing soldiers and veterans. We will also talk about the innovative psychosocial support courses offered by Moe Kolo, which was co-founded by Medaid in Lviv in 2023.

Dennis Ougrin is working with professionals worldwide to help Ukrainian children get the mental health support they need, particularly addressing the psychological trauma from the war. His research includes support for Ukrainian refugee children, including art-based workshops and digital problem-solving interventions for depression and anxiety symptoms in displaced children.
