Reflecting on WINYO performance at the Jago last month, where he gave his UK audience a first listen to his unreleased album, out this October.

The album’s themes, centered around new beginnings, felt especially fitting to sing here in London, marking the first of many tours to come to the UK.

Look out for “Nyanayburi,” that will be coming out next week 🔜

Winyo is a once-in-a-generation artist and one of Kenya’s most cherished contemporary songwriters.

He is a wandering troubadour, a soulful storyteller, a dedicated custodian of the Benga musical tradition.

Last week at the Jago, Winyo shared his new album with his UK fans, marking a new beginning for him- stepping into the new whilst remaining true to where he comes from.

Benga translates as ‘beautiful thing’ in Luo language. It is a style of popular music in Kenya that developed in the 1950s and 1960s. It blends traditional Luo folk string patterns of the nyatiti with Congolese rumba and Cuban influences.

Big shoutout to Y.V.E.T.H.I (Yvette Twagiramariya) for doing such an amazing job hosting the night and welcoming Winyo to the stage.

Last but not least, we welcome djdubwise , who’ll be on the decks for the night.

Born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, and now based in London, he’s been DJing at clubs and events across the UK since 2003, playing reggae, East African pop, Afrobeat, and hip hop.

Dubwise will also be dropping three original tracks by up-and-coming East African producers during his set KÜrïbã , Maganda Shakul , and saké. (WOROLA). Each one remixed samples from the Singing Wells archive into fresh electronic soundscapes. Look out for these on the night.

You can find the ticket link in the Abubilla bio 🎶

We’re thrilled to share that ADANNAY has been named Best Newcomer at the Rural Touring Awards 2026, presented in June at the National Rural Touring Forum’s annual conference.

The award recognises her show Home Is Where You Make It, a confessional, multimedia performance exploring queerness, identity and belonging in the context of the Windrush Generation and its legacies.

Across 2025 and 2026, ADANNAY took the show to village halls and community spaces in tiny towns and villages across the South West of England. It was done in partnership with Take Art

“I had beautiful conversations with some wonderful people. After every show, people spoke to me about their own stories of migration, identity, home-finding. Assuming people don’t want to engage, or wouldn’t be interested because of differences in life experience, geography and demographic, is something I was guilty of and nervous about — but I couldn’t have been more wrong.”- ADANNAY

“Misleading Is The Medicine Live” is out now by ADANNAY !!

Misleading Is the Medicine serves as a rallying cry against political deceit and societal apathy- a conversation that is even more relevant today than when ADANNAY wrote it 3 years ago in the aftermath of the Covid pandemic, and produced amidst the party gate scandal and the rise of the government’s Rwanda policy.

This live performance was recorded at the Abubilla Music Studio, where the stronger rock arrangement gives the original song a new sense of urgency.

Featuring
ORIGAMIK bass
Prosecco Papi on guitar
Leo on Keys
André on Drums
